Question Has anybody put low dust aftermarket (EBC, Ferodo, Hawk, etc) front pads on a SRT8?

Has anybody put any kind of low dust front pads on your SRT8?
If so, what kind, and where did you get them?

I had terrible dust problems on my 03 Cooper S and put EBC greenstuff pads on it. They reduced the dust to tolerable levels (and kept the performance up). I've been looking for low dust pads for my SRT8, I've found several sites with EBC rear pads but can't find anybody who sells the EBC front pads. FRONT>EBC greenstuff part number DP21764.
REAR> EBC greenstuff part number DP21140.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Here's a thread you may just be interested in. I've had the pads on my car for a week now, and no dust!!! I'm going out to bed the brakes today.

Thanks.... I see that Ctech's are available.... has anybody found anything else??? I figured that since EBC had a part number there might be EBC's or something else readily available. I really like the EBC's on my MINI.

Also, does anybody know if the Brembo Calipers are "stock" Brembo sizes, and thus would take a "stock" Brembo pad?

I ran across a website that showed pictures of Brembo Calipers and said "if you caliper looks like this, but that pad" but I forgot to save the URL......

In short ... no.... The backing plates design is for the front calipers is unique to the SRT-8's. C-Tek is the only pad right now. You may be partial to other's, but considering other user's claims right now there's no dust, and stock stopping distance. You can't beat that.

If you read some of Dave's threads here you'll see he's commented on all of your questions somewhere. There are rear pads that are the same shape out there used on other cars, but the front are a totally new design. Also, I seem to recall Dave does not like the EBC pads. They may be fine for a Mini, but the SRT is a whole different car.

EBC Greenstuff is indeed a low dust brake pad. But it's also more likely to cause judder problems from uneven pad deposits than any other pad I've ever come across. This pad is singlehandedly responsible for turning most service shop mechanics against all "low dust" pads, with the claim that they will "warp" your rotors. They misunderstand the root cause of their customers' judder problems. But they have correctly associated the problem with these pads.

The BMW forums are rife with posts from people who installed new rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads and are reporting a reduction in dust. Invariably, a follow-up post appears within a month complaining about how their "poor quality" Brembo rotors (or Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors) warped and how they are going back to OEM rotors. It's so predictable and the poor aftermarket rotors are merely innocent bystanders. But they get the blame.

See: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml for a really good explanation of the physics of what is really going on.

Performing a good bedding is an excellent way of reducing the likelihood of experiencing brake judder and can even help EBC Greenstuff pads. See: http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm for bedding instructions. If you get the slightest hint of brake judder on your MINI, I strongly suggest you bed the brakes in as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage to the rotors.

When you decide to replace the EBC Greenstuff pads on your MINI, you'll find that Axxis Deluxe Plus pads produce almost no dust at all, yet are much less prone to judder problems.

I read some reviews of these pads and it seems there are complaints of early brake fade. One reviewer said they faded after 3 brake applications during bedding and went on to say that they would be alright for someone in the city who obeyed the law!!! In other words I got the impression they're not performance pads, but do help with dust. Maybe Dave will see this and comment on them.

Also, when you select the make and model in the link it only has 300, 300C & 300M to choose from. I selected 300C and it does take you to a page where the pads for the SRT8 are. There were also Hawk pads for this application.
