"Ping" noise when i step on breaks when idling? Any help?

It is weird, but when I am idling and tap the breaks, it starts to make a ping noise. Does that mean I need new brakes? There is only 18k on it, but I do have 22-inch wheels. Can anybody help me out with this one before I take it to the dealer and they charge me 1k...lol
