Brakes squealing, probably time for new pads.. suggestions?

This is a multi-part question, to start with, for the past few months the brakes have been squeaking, in fact even longer than that - dealer claimed the brakes were fine, but you know how it is!

Besides, whether they're working fine or not, I don't want squealing brakes anymore, it's gone from an occasional scree to the noise happening every time I get on them.

Now then, I have a few choices:
1. Go to dealer, have them change pads with OEM ones
2. Order recommended pads online, take to dealer for change
3. Order recommended pads online, buy a good jack/stand set, and change them myself

^ I'm tempted to do #3, never really done stuff like that, but if all else I can call a guy who used to do this stuff for my dad to help.

Really though, no big deal if I take it to the dealer to be done when I go for the next oil change (I'd do them if I had the room in the garage, I don't).

What do you guys think as far as pads are concerned though? I think the rotors are holding up quite nicely, but I'll post pics in the morning if I have time.

How many miles do you have on those brakes? I have 27,000 on mine and they squeal like crazy. I've told the dealer three times and every time they say it's normal.

I was zooming around google looking for pads also. Here is a site with some. I like the red set personally.

http://rep.racepages.com/parts/racepages/wizard.jsp?year=2005&make=CH&model=300-C-001&category=N&part=Brake%20Pad%20Set&dp=true&show dc=true#top

I have 38K miles on my stock pads. Any of you experts want to chime in on how often these should be changed under normal driving conditions? Also, what pads you recommend, and if one of the vendors here sells them for as good a price?

Thanks!

Dayum ,only got about 20k here, and those red ones only work with the 2.7's 12.6" rotors.

I know zeckheusen has some listed, but that's about it. No idea how those are.

One thing I do like about the stock pads is the lack of brake dust...but I would like more bite. Anyone have some opinions?

My personal favorite is Porterfield Racing R4S pads....low dust, rotor friendly, great grip hot or cold...or if on a budget Hawk HPS pads are also a good low dust, rotor friendly pad with a little less bite than the R4S pads.

Porterfield Racing Brake Pads - Brake Pads for your auto, van and truck. The original Carbon Kevlar Racing Brake Pad. Racing Rotors, Calipers, Fuel Cells, Drum Brakes, Disc Brakes.

Thanks for the reply Chase. Do those fit on stock rotors and do we have any vendors in these forums we can buy these from?

Yes.

You can buy Hawk pads from Zeckhausen Racing or Tire Rack.

Porterfield Racing sells direct.

Option #3 if you are willing to do the work, call Zeckhausen on the problem, try the Centric pads, Hawk pads or Performance Friction semi-metallic pad.

i just had front pads and rotors done under warranty about 2 weeks ago due to warped rotors, they squeek a fair bit but dealer tells me it's because they no longer use asbestos in the pads so there's more metal on metal. any thoughts?
