Slotted Ebay rotors for under $100/pair?

Given the fantasy prices i have seen for brake components; are there any downsides with putting non-brand rotors onto my C? Ebay has a bunch of them from under $100/pair. I did this years ago on my Camaro that had warped stock rotors and the result was very good. The slotted rotors will give a rougher feel to them though since they "scrape off" the pads when breaking.

NOTE: I'm only looking for a slight brake upgrade that gets rid of the shuddering when breaking at freeway speeds (seems to be a common problem with these cars).

NOTE2: I am not interested in spending thousands of dollars in "performance brake upgrades" since I don't spend any time on the track...

Why not go with someone we trust and know? That's DaveZ, supporting vendor BTW. He's got slotted rotors for all models. The 300C ones are front - $116 and rear - $103.

Personally I just don't trust eBay, but that's just me. At least with Dave you know where to find him...haha.

Here's the link. Just scroll down to the ones you need.

Less than 100 bucks a pair would make me a bit nervous... you get what you pay for.

Might be good at stopping the car, but may not last as long, or might be made of inferior materials that warp or retain more heat than they should. Cheaper stuff won't have the best design for the cooling vanes, may not be as close a tolerance which may affect rim centering or other fit issues for the wheels, etc.

Look for reviews of parts before you buy... if it looks like a lot of positive reviews, and /or you don't mind the gamble, go ahead and get them!

But I too have been looking around for slotted rotors, but will buy soon from d.zeckhausen based on reviews here, and reviews of the brands he carries. Been looking for a year, so you can imagine how many sites I have been to... and since I am only a novice brake expert ( ) I rely more on reviews from other parties than the tech specs I look up (just a little more)

Let us know either way!!

Because the price is double...? I would bet some money (but not the farm) that the steel is the same in all these rotors. Most is probably marketing (but who can tell). Even the OEM ones seems not infallible depite the research-capacity of Chrysler... I will check out Dave-Z's rotors though...

Seriously John, I'd be very suspicious of the casting standards if those rotors were imported from a country with less stringent inspections. When it comes to brakes I don't think it pays to take chances on the unknown.

Yes, we don't want cast-iron rotors on our cars As far as i see, all of the Ebay rotors are made right here in the US by small shops. These days, anyone with a CNC machine can make these things. I guess some might try to save a buck by using inferior material.

Dave-Z's rotors are only a couple of hundred more than the Ebay ones so better safe than sorry i guess...

Ebay: Lifetime warranty - includes warping etc

Check this out: eBay Motors: 05 CHRYSLER 300 300C F&R Drilled Rotors Brake Pads Kit (item 250168931655 end time Oct-04-07 1318 PDT)

Lifetime Warranty
Our parts stand the test of time. Unlike most companies that offer 14-30 day warranties, BrakePlanet offers LIFETIME WARRANTIES on all of its products! All parts purchased are warranted to be free of defect. For brake rotors, the warranty extends to warping and cracking. For brake pads, the warranty extends to pad fading.

Most interesting - they are even here in SoCal.

Actually I'll wager the rotors are coming from China, as nearly all of them are regardless of "name brand" status. The machine work is being done now by any small shop with a CNC mill (gotta love the Chinese import of tooling too!) and boxed for sale here in the USA.

If $200 is your budget and you really don't want to even spend that much why not visit a small local machine shop and offer them $150 to slot the ones you have. A 3/16 ball end mill at .030" is all it requires. No rotary table needed either, just use a degree wheel and mark the qty wanted. It's really just that simple.

A lifetime warranty doesn't impress me. Aside from the arguing of the rotors use beyond "normal wear and tear" and an expected life cycle of use, or the sale of the car with loss of receipt...the whole thing probably costs them $25 to produce. Very few will meet the criteria for free replacements and if one in 60 sold does, who cares?
