Lightbulb

Get a brake hose clamp or a pair of mole grips and a rag, clamp the rubber brake hose. This will stop air coming into the system and fluid loss.

Fit a tube (windscreen wash tube or similar) onto the bleed nipple and open the bleed nipple with a suitable wrench.

If you can't budge the piston in then it cannot not be square to the caliper.

Push back the rubber around the piston with you hands

Wipe the piston clean.

Get some big grips and with a clean rag wrapped around the piston and twist it out.

Once removed from the caliper inspect the seal and the caliper for damage with a good light source. If there is damage don't hesitate to get a new caliper or a re-con.

If there is no damage, fit the seal around the piston and push it in making sure it is square to the caliper.

You may want to remove the caliper from the vehicle and use a vice to help you. If you have used a brake hose clamp then this is no problem.

Hope this helps.

Update Day Two

I was able to get the piston to retract on both the front and back. I needed to drain all the brake fluid by pulling the valve completely out. No sweat, I have a buddy coming to help me bleed the brakes.

The question I have is how would I know if I damaged any seals. The calipers have the boots on them just fine, and there is no visible size of damage. When I pull the rubber boot back just a little there is brake fluid in there, but I am assuming that is ok. Unless that is the way to tell if a seal is damaged.

What I am going to do is finish the job on the one side (If I could get the dam rotor off the rear!) , bleed the brakes on that side and see if there is any leakage. Then I will pump the brakes up to build pressure to see if there is any problems.

I am assuming I am taking the right approach. Any advice on what to do next, how to really know if a seal is broken, or anything else you can think of would be great. I'm seriously paypaling beers to everyone once this is finished.

If the vanes are straight then no.

If the vanes are curved there is a good chance they are directional.
