What you've done here is to combine the bedding for street pads with bedding for full race pads. It's not a case of if some is good, then more must be better. By doing the bedding at 80mph, then adding four runs at 100mph, you completely cooked those street pads. A layer of glaze formed on them and, since you don't have slotted rotors, it remained - causing the squeal at light pedal pressure and should have reduced your friction level somewhat.

Keep in mind that the energy you put into your brakes goes up with the square of the velocity. So an 80mph stop is not a 33% increase in energy over a 60mph stop. It's a 75% increase. And a 100mph stop is not a 66% increase, it is a 178% increase. (If I did the math right.)

In this case, it was a pad issue.

After they deglazed the pads and turned the rotors, it became a pad & rotor issue. You've essentially gone back to square one. There is no pad transfer layer on the rotors, after they've been machined. So you need to rebed the brakes, this time only doing a series of near stops from 60mph (per: http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm). If the pads haven't been ruined from the abuse earlier, this should cure the noise. If it does not, then you should replace the pads.
hi Dave,

a stupid question I know, but should I do this bedding in procedure after taking delivery of my new car (hopefully later this week)? Just wondering how I can do this on the way home from the dealership.

Any advice most welcome

Typically, I break in the engine first, then bed in the brakes of any new car. There's really no rush to bed the brakes.

I have a 2005 300C I bought new in 2004. Had break problems and the dealer replaced pads and rotors at around 15K for free, things were fine. Now at 50K front end shimmy at high speed breaking. My repair place (not dealer now) said two front rotors were out and put on new ones. Shimmy gone but now I have squeeling at light breaking. Repair shop said nothing they can do but I should work them in hard. Remembered the Bedding thing here and went out and did it yesterday. Much better today - will see over time. BTW the shop says I have plenty of life on the pads (don't know if 50% or what - hope not an issues for bedding). Whats all this about TSB and slotted rotors - thought that was just for SRTs. If the bedding doesn't hold may try it again and just do the quiet pads when I need them - not buying more rotors. What and where do you get these pads.

Well two days later and squeel is back. Gonna need to do something as windows are down here more often now and it annoying. Guess will try bedding again and than see about quiet pads when its time. Where can they be got?

If the second bedding session doesn't get rid of the noise for good, we have the Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic pads in stock. Just click here to order: Zeckhausen Racing

Hopefully you won't have to, though. We're also located in New Jersey, so UPS Ground will get to you in one day.

Thanks, so just to understand they are the Centric 63-105-1058 for the front at 65.00 for the pair. And 63-105-1057 for the back at 50.00 for the pair. I assume my local mechanic freind can put them on no prob and nothing else is needed. I have stock rotors, ok? And they will perform well and things will quiet down?

Thanks

There are four pieces per box. So you only need to order one box of front pads and one box of rear pads.

Installation is a snap. No extra parts needed. No special service tools.

After you install them (or your friend installs them), find a nice quiet road and follow this bedding process: Instructions for bedding in your brakes. Given that you're keeping your old rotors, I suggest you wait a couple of days on the bedding, until your pads have worn in and are fully contacting the rotors.

This has nothing to go with the pads or rotters them selves. Its the vibration caused between the back of the pad and the mettle plate on the brake calipairs when you step on them. It can be an easy fix i did it when i painted my calipars. when u take off your calipairs you can see where they touch the pads just go by some squeek be gone or any of that stuff and apply where they touch let it dry then put the calipars back on. its dosent always fix the squeek, but it should.
