Question Guide pin lube?

I am getting ready to pull my calipers off for some much needed cleaning/painting etc and am worried that I might mess something up in the process. I read the great articles in the tech section about brake pad replacement and feel confident that it's an easy enough process especially since I will not really be replacing anything (that I know of ) as far as hardware goes. I have the right torque wrench, the right sockets etc. but what I am wondering about is the type of lubrication you use on the guide pins and if there is anything I should be careful of.
