Front and rear rotors

I'm going to replace the front and rear rotors/pads on my 2006 300C which has stock rotors/pads. I want to upgrade the rotors/pads to a quality set. I guess my questions are: 1.) Is it worth getting slotted & drilled vs solid rotors. 2.) Ceramic vs Asbestos. 3.) Recommended manufactures. 4.) Is a larger diameter rotor a better investment, will this larger diameter (12.6" vs 13.6") fit in the stock wheels?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

larger diameter is expensive. You can't just get a bigger rotor for 150 bucks and slap it on, it will take basically all new calipers, etc. 2500.00 bucks an axle is at the low end of the price range for larger brakes. And I doubt if larger brakes will fit the stock wheels, but there are some that do.

I would go with a pair of slotted only, but I like the look of the drilled and the drilled/slotted combos, as I looked at all of them for a year + while baking my OEM brakes on the Autobahn in germany and debated every combo. I read too many reviews about drilled rotors cracking, etc, and since slotted generally are the recommended rotor type for hard braking events, I went with the slotted. I went with Stoptech slotted, and recommended pads from Dave Zeckhausen at Zeckhausen Racing and have zero complaints. I know to long term members here it always sounds like I am shilling for Dave, but you can't beat the product or the vendor IMO. Hard to find a bad review about either, and ultimately, that is 50% of what I base my buying decisions on.

I'm planning on upgrading my brakes as well. There are several options that you can choose from. If you do a search you'll find members have changed/upgraded their rotors from different manufacturers. What I'm planning to personally do is go with slotted rotors from Dave Z and go with Napa's Adaptive One Brake Pads. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide to do.

yay!

you will LOVE those NAPA pads. They are wonderful for a street driven car.

Re: ceramic vs... there is no real meaning to the term "ceramic" as they can put a fleck in the recipe and it qualifies!

Drilled rotors look cool and all but can be noisy and most shops won't turn and re-chamfer them. This means you will buy new ones instead of just re-surfacing when needed. Slotteds can hum under hard braking as well.

If you get the right pads, all your problems will be solved.

What is the part # we use for our front and rears for the Napa adaptive one pads? When you put in our car info it does not give the Adaptive one as an option, so I went to my local Napa store and told the guy what kind of car I had and what I wanted and he said they do not sell them for our cars???? I think I'll be going with Dave Z

No!

That advice was for a regular 300, NOT AN SRT8!

Go to Autozone and get them cheap. I got them at Amazon for less than 100 bucks for all 4 wheels. They are a near duplicate of factory with slightly less dust.
