Question new brakes at 16k??

My car has about 16k miles on it and I just ordered a new set of bendix pads. I wasnt getting much bite at all and was even starting to kinda feel them slipping even at low speed stops. Does that seem a bit soon to need to replace pads? I didnt take the time to check which probably wasnt smart but Im assuming it could be my rotors as well. figured Im gonna need the pads eventually anyway so I just grabbed them now. How long do our pads and rotors normally last under relatively normal driving?

all depends on how you drive..

my mom and I shared a car once.. she drove it for 7 years averaging 10K per year and brakes every 11 -15K, I drove the car for 2 years after that and managed to get 40k out of the brakes...

I got 58K out of my original "C" brakes, and others have gotten 15 -20K.. all depends on how you drive.. I will say though, the stock 5.7L rotors do tend to warp easier than any other vehicle I have ever driven.

You must not have driven a Ford lately. My Lincoln makes my 300 look rock solid.

no Ford's (other than my dads 1985 Ford Crown Vic I mentioned above) since 1993 and I got 64K out of my 1993 Ford Probes Brakes..

got 60K+ out of my 1996 Chevy Silverado, had 48K on my 2000 Z71 Silverado when the lease was up and never did the brakes on that, had 94K on my 2002 Impala when I traded for the "C" and had done the brakes once when I bought it (used with 30K on it..) because the previous owner wore them to nothing.

best car though was the 1968 T-Bird with Asbestos Brake Pads.. Dad went 168K on those, before the pads crumbled from my power brake burnouts..

prior to mid-2006 they weren't, it changed to accomodate the customer complaints about excessive brake dust.

How much stopping power will I lose with them not being slotted? Do you have a full set? How much do you want for them?

slotted rotors don't effect stopping power, the slots are dual purpose, one to cut down on the brake dust and two to allow better cooling of the rotors under hard braking.. basically keeps them cooler for less brake fade.

for daily driving you won't notice a difference, if you are into hard core auto crossing then you will notice that the brakes will crack faster because they get too hot.
