brakes problem with 22" wheels

Hey guys,

Since i got my 22" wheels, the stock brakes are not preforming as they use to on the stock wheels, specially in the hot weather and humidity, not sure if this has bad effect on the brakes.

I am looking to upgrade my brakes, i do not want to spend money on getting a big brake kit since i dont race the car. from what i read on the fourms i understood that i need to upgrade the rotors to a slotted rotors but not drilled. i need also to upgrade the lines and get a better pads, what about the claipers?

Is that all what i need to do to get better brakes? i saw some going on eBay but i dont know if i should buy from there, i was thinking to buy the rotors from a good company such as stop tech or brembo, etc.

I am looking for a nice upgrade to the brakes, front and rears, if you have or know a nice combo please help me out, feel free to recommend any company as it will be very helpful to me.

I appreciate all responses to this post, Thanks

Dave Zeckhausen wrote a great response on another thread as to why not to buy the rotors from ebay. I don't recall the thread, but you could search it through looking up all posts by dzeckhausen.
The fact that your wheels weigh more and that weight is located farther out from the hub is why your brakes are underperforming. SS lines and more aggressive pads would likely do wonders for you.
If you were going to change rotors and calipers and pads and lines, you're talking a "kit" which is expensive, but worth it if you have the coin.

I really don’t have the coin for a kit, and I don’t know if my wheels will have the needed clearance. I would like to get slotted rotors I’m thinking brembos.

Whats a good company to go with for the SS lines and pads?

What do you guys think of wilwood I just saw that they sell brake kits for a good price don’t know if they have anything yet for a 300c

I will search for that post, thanks LWOOD

Willwood does not make a kit but Todd at www.tceperformanceproducts.com does utilizing Wilwood components. I have both the front and rear kit and love them.

There are some pics here www.22elite.com/medium may need to scroll down a bit...

The fronts were around $2500 with the full kit, rear was like $500 for the caliper only kit. Hope this helps

James

The law of unintended concequences, did the installer advise you that your brakes would be affected by wheel/tire weighing 80lbs or more?

Damn, wish I would have held onto mine, I had some rotors on the Magnum that I bought from Dodge and sent off to PowerSlot to get custom slotted, ended up getting $50 for all 4 plus shipping

Could you please tell us which model 300 you have, the C has bigger brakes than the others.
