Paying almost $600 for a grill that was suppose to be brand new and then telling the buyer the grill is sold 'as is' and trying to blame UPS imo is BS. If the grilles were damaged and that was the reason for the discount then the seller should have made that clear in his post. I'm sorry for my rant but it ticks me off when you have sellers who lie and send half ass products and try to blame the buyer. Thankfully we have a trader rating system so we don't have to deal with these types of sellers.

I was about to mention the trader rating thing. I am new here, but I believe thats what it is for. I am sorry to hear about your grille situation.

My response:

I didn't even check on this thread again after he sent me pics. I am the seller of the grille and am here to tell my side and defend myself.

I have never sold a grille in my life before so I am not buying any kind of cheap grilles and reselling them. I've never even recieved a paypal payment until this transaction.

Here's the real story. I offered the grille up for sale. Had a few contacts that were b.s. and then he came along. He asked if it would fit his car and I told him yes. He asked the condition and I said exactally what it was, used but looked like new. The mesh was absolutely not pused in at all. I never said the grille was brand new at any time either. I clearly stated it was used and described the condition

He agreed and sent paypal. I accepted. Told him when I was going to ship and shipped that day.

THE BOX IT WAS SHIPPED IN, WAS MADE AND PACKED AT THE USP STORE BY THE EMPLOYEE HIMSELF! I think they know how to package them correctly to avoid their own losses. I also if he has ever seen what Mopar themselves package the grilles in? That box has NO padding at all. I couldn't imagine what he would have thought of the packaging if he got a brand new one from Mopar. This was so freakin' padded with bubble wrap I though it was way overkill. I even covered a $14 dollar difference out of my own pocket.

He recieved the grille on the 21st of June. I expected to hear from him on that day if there was any problem as it's common since to contact a seller within 24 hours if there is any problem. Didn't hear from him the 22nd either. Not the 23rd, 24th either. He responds 5 days later, AFTER HE ALREADY HAD SOMEONE INSTALL IT and claims there was a problem.

I felt something was very fishy here. I told him that there was nothing I could do as he waited so long, AND AFTER HE HAD THE SUPPOSEDLY DAMAGED GRILLE INSTALLED!

Wouldn't anybody that has half a brain examine the grille very close as soon as they got it and report any damage right away? He didn't tell me till 5 days later, plus the even stanger fact that he installed a grille that he said was damaged.

Aside from comming out and telling him he was trying to scam me, the first thing I thought of was mabey there was a problem with shipping damage. I told him he should file a claim with ups since he thought the grille was so poorly packaged.

Another thing that doesn't make since. He claims the box was so poorly packaged, but still didn't take the grille out immediatly and examine it and report any damage. Why in the world would you still wait 5 days and then go so far as to have it installed???? That just doesn't make since except for someone who is trying to scam me.

So now it looks like UPS didn't buy his story either. They even told me if he had the grille on the car they would deny his claim, which I immediatly told him, still trying to help him out even though this is looking so much like a scam.

Now he opened a dispute with paypal which doesn't cover condition of merchandise recieved. He filed the claim and then escalated it 4 minutes later.

I was only out to give someone a good deal on a nice grille.. He paid $500 + shipping for the Mopar/Dub grille and e&g lower mesh grilles also. I never thought it would turn into such a nightmare as this. I would never sell a used product again unless it was in person.

While, I agree, it is a chance you take buying anything used over the web, this grill was perfect.

I just don't understand why anyone who isn't trying to scam wouldn't have opened the box IMMEDIATLY when they recieve what they are saying was very, very poorly packaged and expensive grille. Then wait 5 days, and GO SO FAR AS TO EVEN INSTALL a grill that he says was damaged????

Why would you possibly install a damaged grille??? This just doesn't add up.
