After Market UConnect Problems

Hi There,
I just bought my 300C about 2 months ago. Until recently, the after market UConnect that the dealership installed in my car was working perfectly. Now, it seems to randomly not work. Once I start my car, if the bluetooth connection to my cell phone is found, it works and keeps working. If the connection is not found, it may or may not connect during that trip (mostly never connecting at all, no matter what I do). I've tried different scenarios (have the phone off before entering the car, have the phone on, have bluetooth on, have bluetooth off, etc.) There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason do it. I noticed this happening after I had to take the car in to have the torque converter replaced (not exactly a warm-fuzzy new car experience).
Has anyone ever experience this type of weird stuff happening with their UConnect? Or does anyone have any ideas. I tried looking for support on a UConnect website and couldn't find anything worthwhile.

Thanks very much.

Linda

Hi Linda:

Welcome. I see you have an 05. There has been a couple of problems in the past with the 05's. I haven't heard of any 06 problems, so I'm assuming it's been fixed. A few people found the wiring harness was not fully inserted and a simple check to make sure it was fully pluged in is all that was necessary. The second problem was the module itself being faulty. I had this problem last year and it was a simple swap of modules that fixed it. I believe they did a rolling change sometime last fall with a new module.

Either way, take it to your dealer. It only takes a few minutes to diagnose. The module is located behind the glove box and it has to be removed. Let us know what happens.

I have a 06 300C and when palm did a bluetooth update my UConnect now sounds scratchy (per my family and friends) and the phone numbers do not come up on dash. Local dealer says they have never heard of this. Anyone else hear of this. Thanks in advance.

U-Connect - Nav Unit

I've had the same problem from time to time. It is a bit of an annoyance, but the cure is simple. Pull the fuse for the Navigation Unit. It is is the trunk. I think it is fuse #36 but check you owner's manual to confirm that. You may or may not have to re-synchronize your Bluetooth connection again. All in all it takes about a minute. Good Luck!
