Thumbs up Heads Up Canadians - GST At 5% 1 January 2008

Hey, it's a 1% drop and that's a good thing. What it means is that a $50,000 purchase this week + PST + GST = $57,000. Next week the same purchase will save you $500. Great way to start the year off eh!!! Now lets hope they don't raise the price by $500...haha!!!

With 2 GST reductions completed, this should put to rest the excuses by provincial and federal governments that reducing taxes on cars is pointless since the car makers will simply raise the price negating the effect of the tax reduction. The theory was if you had to pay the same amount, why not let your good governemnt have it?

Perhaps now it is time to get rid of that $100 luxury air conditioner tax?
