[quote=300TouringNproud]For those who are interested in using iTunes, here's a little tutorial I did for HEMI4ME via PM, thought I'd post it for the rest of the forum. This tutorial will work for both Mac and PC versions of iTunes.
Hello,
I tried using your tutorial to convert AAC to MP3, but I expect Apple has gotten wise since my v6.0.0.18 iTunes will not let me convert these "protected" files. Most of my music is in this format (iPod). Do you know of any other ways or programs which would let me convert? Feel free to PM if necessary. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Pat Z.

Hi Pat,
I'm gonna guess that these are music files you bought from the iTunes Music Store, right? Those are a bit more pesky to get into MP3 format. The only way I know of to get those as mp3's is simple, but time consuming if you have a large quantity of songs you've bought. (This is why I NEVER buy songs from iTMS).
Here's the work around:
Make a playlist of the disc (if you bought a whole disc) or of a disc's worth of songs (if you only bought a bunch of single songs). Burn that playlist as a CD. Once that's done, re-rip the CD to iTunes, making sure your set your preferences to import as .mp3 files.
This will give you two copies of the songs. You can delete the originals to keep things tidy (duplicates of songs are a bother to me). To figure out which is which you simply go to "Edit" in the tool bar, select "View Options" and click the check box next to "Kind". This will show a column for the audio file's type in your library. Click on the column head to organize by file type and all the AAC or M4P files will be grouped together. Highlight and delete. DO THIS ONLY AFTER YOU'VE MADE ALL YOUR COPIES!!! iTunes Music Store will NOT let you re-download music you've purchased (yet another reason I will NEVER buy from iTMS).
Now you've got musci files which are actually usefull to you. Let freedom ring.
As of this moment I don't know of any programs which will automatically convert protected files, so this very manual workaround is necessary. If anyone know of a program I'm sure the rest of the group would be glad you shared.
With an 06 you should have an Ipod jack that interfaces with the steering controls, can you just plug and play the ipod without messing with discs? If I could I would. Do you have an aux jack?
Can you use iTunes on a Windows laptop and make use of the folder capability of the 300? I can make a disk without folders and it holds plenty of songs but it would be neat to navigate between albums instead of scanning forward repeatedly to get to the tracks deep on the mp3 disk.
Edit: Figured it out after readings some threads on the Corvette forum. If you simply move a bunch of songs into a playlist iTunes makes a single non-folder song list. If you make a playlist and then sort by the album column heading iTunes makes a folder for each album.
Now I can move to whichever specific album I want. Or I can use the random play button and it will randomize across all the songs on the mp3 CD. Pretty cool.
im not sure if this has already been posted or not. but u can download realplayer from realplayer.com and use their burning part of the player to put your songs in any order u want.
does anyone know how to get the artist name and song name to display when burning cds (mp3 or normal audio cds)??? I've done it in windoze media player and itunes on both a mac and PC and cant get them to display.
Is there a limit to how many files can be put on a disk? I put 115 files on a CD but the RAQ radio will only access 54 of them... weird.
Maybe they all aren't MP3?
I'm confused.....
Nevermind... I noticed a bunch are .wma
