I'm not 100% sure but someone on here purchased a nav unit from eBay and it had the same problem. From what I remember he ended up sending it back to the guy so im hoping it's not the same unit you purchased. I think only European nav units have a lock code and I don't know if you can actually reset the code yourself you might have to check with the dealer if they'll be able to reset it for you. It might be a pain to have them reset because the lock code is basically an anti theft code. Good luck!

Yeah that was me. I purchased it and it had the unlock code. Who was the ebay buyer that you bought it from, i want to see if it is the same seller.
Also, the seller said that there was an unlock code because it came out of a 2005 and i had a 2006, that was BS.
Let me know.

If you have the unlock code, you enter it using the preset buttons. The codes are made up of only digits 1 through 6.

Some early 2005 US models of the REC unit did have this feature. It seems they took it out of the US models pretty quickly but left the feature in the UK models on the REJ head units.

Getting a unit that needs the code isn't a big deal as long as you have the code and it works.

No when you turn on nothing ask for any code. Radio works cd dose not and navigation disk error comes on. What I found out is Canada base units will not work in the U.S.A. at leased that is what the dealer explained. I purchased it from Canada and guess what I'm from the U.S.A.
So if you purchase REC navigation unit you have to buy it from your own country for it to work with the navigation cd. Other wise it is useless.
