Simple Question

This should be a simple question. In the non-nav head units is that a 4inch din? I want to add a touch screen DVD/Nav unit but I dont want the pop out screens.

Upgrade Sound Group I to SGII

Can I buy the amp and 2 additional speakers and upgrade using facotry parts? If so, where can I buy OEM parts to do this upgrade?

When I installed my stereo in my Heritage 300C, I used the information in the initial post of this thread to help determine which wires were needed in the install...

Quote:
What colors are the wires that run to the speakers?

Note: The the first color is the color of the wire and the second color is the color of the stripe on the wire.

Dash Left +: Gray/Orange
Dash Left -: Gray/Yellow
Dash Center +: Gray/Brown
Dash Center -: Gray/Orange
Dash Right +: Gray/Dark Green
Dash Right -: Gray/Light Green

Front Left +: Gray/Violet
Front Left -: Gray/Yellow
Front Right +: Dark Green/Violet
Front Right -: Dark Green/Yellow

Rear Left +: Dark Green/Tan
Rear Left -: Dark Green/Gray
Rear Right +: Dark Green/Brown
Rear Right -: Yellow/Gray

Subwoofer +: Grey/Brown
Subwoofer -: Dark Green/Brown
By my installer's findings, the polarities of each of the pairs listed above is REVERSED!!! (for example, the Left Dash positive was Gray wire/Yellow stripe and the Left Dash negative was Gray wire/Orange stripe. Opposite of what was quoted above.

He tested each of the speaker pairs with a 9V battery with wires attached to the positive and negative poles. Connecting positive battery to positive speaker pole and negative battery to negative speaker pole... the speaker would "pop out". If you did the reverse (positive battery to negative speaker terminal and vice versa) then the speaker would "pull in".

Using the wire diagram above, all of the speakers "pulled in"... therefore he determined the the speaker pairs above were actually backwards. He tested every pair of speakers and found this to be true.

However, he did say if every pair was reversed, it would still work... however it just wouldn't be "optimal" as far as the sound goes. I would recommend that anyone who used the above guidance to wire your system, to check your polarity to see if you now have it reversed.

Just a heads up... for folks who doing the install themselves.

Sound Group II Parts

Does anybody know where I can buy the OEM parts to do this to my C? I need the amp, center dash speaker and subwoofer. I gues the wires are probably already there. I can just change out the 265 watt amp for the 365 watt amp. Any help would be great!

Honestly, why would you want to use the OEM components? You can buy better speakers cheaper in the aftermarket.

I know, but I want to keep it a "plug and play" system.

Sounds like a job for those new PAC/Peripheral add in harnesses.

Forget the center speaker. A lot of us have disconnected/removed it. Sounds better without it, better stereo separation.
