When I installed my stereo in my Heritage 300C, I used the information in the initial post of this thread to help determine which wires were needed in the install...
By my installer's findings, the polarities of each of the pairs listed above is REVERSED!!! (for example, the Left Dash positive was Gray wire/Yellow stripe and the Left Dash negative was Gray wire/Orange stripe. Opposite of what was quoted above.
He tested each of the speaker pairs with a 9V battery with wires attached to the positive and negative poles. Connecting positive battery to positive speaker pole and negative battery to negative speaker pole... the speaker would "pop out". If you did the reverse (positive battery to negative speaker terminal and vice versa) then the speaker would "pull in".
Using the wire diagram above, all of the speakers "pulled in"... therefore he determined the the speaker pairs above were actually backwards. He tested every pair of speakers and found this to be true.
However, he did say if every pair was reversed, it would still work... however it just wouldn't be "optimal" as far as the sound goes. I would recommend that anyone who used the above guidance to wire your system, to check your polarity to see if you now have it reversed.
Just a heads up... for folks who doing the install themselves.
Comment on your last paragraph: "However, he did say if every pair was reversed, it would still work... however it just wouldn't be "optimal" as far as the sound goes" Every time I have wired up speaker polarity backwards, the speakers actually worked backwards. When wired correctly the speaker cone will move outward when it hits. If it is wired backwards, the cone moves inward when it hits. This greatly cuts down on sound volume and quality, "a hell of a lost less than optimal". When the installer says it will still work, I guess, technically he's right.
New here. I have been installing my systems for many MANY years. Wow, you guys are a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than I am.
I just bought a new 08 LX. Stealin deal by the way, plus added the lifetime extended waranty. I will never get rid of it, even when I am ready to buy a new car!!! The LX has a 4 speaker system.
I have read all of the posts and didn't see any answers to a few basic questions I have. Does anyone have answers to the following:
1. What is the ohms on the speakers?
2. Does this system have an amplifier?
3. Recommendations for adding an amp and a set of subs?
-I tried to tap the signal at the rear speakers using a PAC converter and the sound from the subs was extremely distorted, even at very low levels.
- Could this be an ohms mismatch? My subs are 8 ohms
4. Is there a better place to tap to install the PAC converter?
I just bought the Kenwood KAC 9104D 1800 Watt amp which is stable to 1 ohm, then I am using 2 KFC 3011 12" 1200 w peak 400 RMS subs, they are 4 ohms but when wired parallel the are a 2 ohms load, sounds great and the whole package brand new is $250!!!
What's going on? I'm new here and don't know a whole lot about car stereos. I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C with REC head unit and 8 speaker system. Everything is completely stock. I want to upgrade the head unit but want to maintain the stock look. I was curious if you could replace the REC with the newer RER touchscreen unit. I also want to upgrade the speakers. I ordered JL Audio 3.5"s for the dash and 5.25"s for the front and rear deck. I plan on putting dynamat on the doors, rear deck and trunk. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks everyone.
I am curious about this as well since I have the same car. Can anyone comment?
hello to everyone.....im new to the forum...does my 2006 300 limited come pre wired for 8 speakers sub and amp i have 6 speakers jw if chrysler ran the wires for the other speakers?
Alright, I'm excited now. I have everything I need for the install of my Pioneer AVIC F90 BT. I bought the pac interface wire harness and I recently found out from the dealership that I do not have a boston acoustic sound system, so the wire harness I bought is appropriate.
Now with all the equipment, I'm lost in the sauce on how to get started splicing all the wires. I have the following wires: 1) gps antenna 2) ipod interface 3)Microphone interface for bluetooth 4)a bunch of A/V lines (subwoofer;rear/front output etc.) 5)and a wiring adapter which goes into the power supply outlet.
What do I do with the car speed signal wire, battery wire, and what is the ILL wire?
