System problems!!!

I just installed a JL w6-12 on a memphis 500x1 class D in my 06' 300c. 1st problem is the sound quality. I got a custom box built with a wall so the box sits flush with the liner of the trunk and my audio guy cut slits in the wall so the sound could travel back. The sub for some reason doesnt sound like its hitting to its potential. There's no deep bass really and it sounds kinda distorted for a 12 and not to mention the trunk rattles like a mothA! For dropping a grand on this system I'm really disapointed. I've had JL w0's that sound better then this. I have the boston system w/o the sub and I have to turn my head unit bass to negative 9 or it sounds like my 12 will blow through the box but its not really hitting???? I dont know what to do..I cant really fool with my amp because its under a plate of plexi glass.....Any one have some suggestions? Cuz I'm to the point were I'm just ready to sell the whole damn thing!

system problem

it sounds like it may be a bad enclosure, or possibly the input he used is high level and the amp is not setup for high level inputs. your sub brand should be hitting pretty hard. i would take it back and have them check it, if they say its fine, take it somewhere else

where are you from, i know a lot of good shops here in Cali.

can you get a pic for us? so the sub points toward the trunk? i know from experience that when i had my 2 10w6v2's pointing toward the trunk it wasn't that loud and it rattled the trunk bad even with a bulk box of dynamat. i then had a new install done and pointed towards the cabin and the rattles went away and the sq and loudness went up. check my sig for an idea.

Yea the subs point toward the trunk and I'll try to get a pic posted. I live in Baton Rouge, LA but will be moving to Houston in a month. I'll try bringing it to a few shops and see what they think
