Thumbs down Nav/Maint/Warnings

I hope I'm wromg, I was looking at settings in Nav for vehicle maintenance ie. oil change 3000 mi, unless I'm wrong Chrysler has droped the ball. I just hit 3000mi and never got a warning to go for oil change so I found that unless you have nav screen on you will never be notified. Nothing on dash no bells or chimes not a problem if nav is on. But I for one don't use nav at all times as I'm sure many of you don't so unless i'm missing something Chrysler as droped the ball!

The notice comes on the Nav / Radio screen as soon as you start the car, mine just came on.
This is a feature that must be programmed in by the owner... it does not come from the factory pre-programmed to alert you when service is due.

Did you program yours?

Mine just chimed at me while I was listening to an MP3. It always scares me because I think something is malfunctioning. Mine has gone off while listening to satellite radio, FM, etc. As long as I don’t have the entire sound system turned off it will chime at my programmed times. I wonder if the volume of the chime is related to the volume of the nav voice? A while back I noticed my nav voice was very soft. I didn’t realize that while in the nav mode if you turned the volume knob it lowered the voice. Just wondering if the voice and chime are controlled by the same volume?? Or if there is a relationship between the back up sensor warning chime volume (I think there is a TSB on that for customers who want it louder?) Just grasping at straws.

Hope you feel better Hemeee- I've been sick in bed for the last few days myself.

The TSB involves replacing the back up display, so probably not related. There is a seperate volume setting in one of the Nav set up screens.

Okay, here's the scoop!
  • If you are in Nav mode you get a screen that gives you the service reminder at start-up... no chime. You can choose 'OK' -or- 'Remind Again' to clear the message.
  • If you are in Radio/CD mode you get a double chime at start-up and a text message in the blue bar beneath the Radio/CD info screen; it says 'Nav Message', telling you to switch to Nav mode to see a message.
  • Because the messaging system is inherent to the Audio/Nav system, when they are both turned off, you will not get a service reminder or chimes.
HEMEEE the sickEEE, at your service!

Oh, and danno, not sure about the chime volume, but I suspect that is the case... I didn't see your post until after I did my "test" and it's too windy to go out there now. I'll try to remember to check it, but remind me by PM if I haven't posted back by the end of the day...
