Easy Fixes for Kicker System issues - Sub and front center speaker

I made the change today...
what a difference!
the sub you can now feel in the seat of your pants...
literally!
the center speaker by being pulled allowed the front left and front right to power a little more...
which allowed me to favor the system to the back...

current settings
bass +3
mid 0
treble +4
fader +3 to rear

try these on the above changes...
and you'll like it...
volume 25 now sounds like 32 used too...
HAPPY LISTENING!!!

Did you just unplug the center speaker from above the navigation area?
Is that possible for the amp to send more power to the left and right speaker if the center is unplugged?
Let me know, I will go do this right now if that is the case.
BTW, I have a 300C, not the SRT-8 and the BA6 System.

Good Questions!
anyone...
anyone...
Bueller...
And I don't know the specific answer...
I did just unplug the center speaker.
It was really easy...
you need a credit card - use one of your mileage or hotel rewards cards - it might get bent...
pry up the cover...
use a small (stubby) phillips head screwdriver and take out the 2 screws and unplug...
that's it...
as for your other questions...
I'll leave those for an expert...
shouldn't be any different than mine though...

i just did this mod and it definately sounds better without the center speaker
everyone should at least try it out - the recommended settings also seem to work best though i did adjust the fade a bit - but everyone hears different things

thanks again for another great/easy mod

Gable,

How did you do this.
If it makes a difference, then im gonna do this after I get home from work today.
Did you remove the bezel around the radio and stick your hand through and unplug the wire?
Please let me know.
Thanks

bro
this isn't surgery
its too damn easy
grab some credit card and push it into the edge of the speaker cover and start to work it around (easier to do from the passenger side)
its a little nerving doing it on your new car but does not leave any mark
work it around and pry it up and u will eventually be able to grab the cover and lift it up
then there are 2 screws holding the center speaker
use a short (stubby) phillips and unscrew
there is a white plug connecting the speaker
press in the tab and pull
replace everything leaving that wire just dangling below and adjust the audio as recommended

you should be pleasantly surprised as i was

Amp doesn't send more power to the other front speakers. Disconnecting the center speaker just improves the imaging and in essence you hear the true sound, left and right, not just one wall of sound like it is with the center speaker connected.

Make note that BA7 300c owners have been disconnecting their center speaker for 2 years. This isn't a new mod, it is just finally gaining more attention with the Kicker folks because they are reversing their polarity on the sub so it was also mentioned that disconnecting the center speaker would also improve the system.

Just saw this info in the FAQ AUDIO section. http://www.300cforums.com/forums/car-audio-alarms-navigation/12930-faq-audio-upgrades.html

I noticed that there is a center channel speaker in my dash, is this speaker necessary? Should I upgrade this too? Proper stereo imaging cannot be achieved with 3 speakers in the dash. The only purpose a center channel could serve would be in a 5.1 Surround Sound application. A center channel screws up left and right imaging. I found the imaging so bad with the stock Sound Group 2, that I thought my hearing was going out on my left ear. After I removed the center channel, things got back to normal and the system felt balanced. I replaced all 3 3.5" Speakers with Eclipse units, but found that the distance from me to the center channel was too close, so the right side of the audio system was always louder than the left. I suggest disconnecting the center channel speaker and see if you prefer the setup yourself.
