Amp and woofer installation

Hey guys i have a mono kenwood 1000w amp for 2 subwoofers, i also have the stock Boston Acustic sound system the one with the sub. is it possible to tap into the stock subwoofer and and run wires to my kenwood amp?

Yes you can do that, but the amp is behind the dash, so it would be better if you run the new amp independently. Whatever you do dont cut the wires from the old amp, because there is a data line in it, and you will loose your nav.

It is possible to tap the speaker wire in the trunk that is going to the factory subwoofer. You just have to remove the cardboard cover under the rear deck and it will be in plain site. Your amp would need to have speaker level inputs or you would need to use a line output converter to connect it to your amp. Get the basics in the audio FAQ that's a sticky in this forum. One forum member (el duderino) put a signal analyzer on that sub and it was only getting 50hz and down. So this solution is not optimal but is the easiest.

I highly recommend that you wait for peripheral or pac-audio to release their add-an-amp product. It is a wiring harness that plugs in between the factory deck and factory wiring harness. It will give you a full range signal and a remote turn on for your amp. The specifically state they had the addition of a subwoofer to the factory system in mind when they designed these.
