Stereo Aux input - The nitty Gritty.

Folks-

I am sick of tired of dealing with these interface companies like PAC/PIE/Blitzsafe etc. None of them have any sincere interest in working on a solution any time soon for aux input on our OEM units. I've called each one and begged. They could care less. They will get to it when they do.

It's time to take matters into our own hands, and I need some help.

The back of the OEM Head unit for the LX platform:

The plug/port on the right hand side is the Sirius Satellite interface. That brings up the following diagram.

Am I correct in assuming that it could be as simple as splicing an RCA cable into that port and using the common ground for both RCA channels? I did this exact thing on my factory BOSE unit on my old audi. Simple as pie and worked beautifully. Anyone have input? I'm curious how I can trick my OEM stereo into thinking the Sirius interface is connected in order to hear the signal coming in from this port.

Help be brainstorm. I'm sick of not having my ipod.

Seems as if that would work. Do you have a diagram of the main plug to the radio where did you get this information from for the plug

My first question is are you or were you using the sirius service before? The reason I ask is that I think there may be a chance the radio needs programmed to know to go to SAT when switching through modes.

I am not using sirius currently no. You bring up a great point. This is exactly the kind of questions I need asked I'm going to call the dealer and ask if they can help me do a bit of research...

Shaggy I updated it with both diagrams. They are from the LX platform manual.

Oh yeah you forgot to mention SoundGate. They supposedly are working on an interface too.

Three cheers for Rogue.

I am "electronically challenged" but will follow this thread with interest as I would like to hear my tunes through the system as well.

There is no way to trick the unit into thinking Siruis is connected, short of developing your own CAN-BUS device to mimic the commands the Sirius unit sends and receives. This actually shouldn't be that difficult if there were inexpensive hardware available to "sniff" the CAN-BUS. This is the whole reason all those other guys don't have an interface. They're used to cutting/splicing and switching circuits, not writing microcontroller code to get the device to do what they want.

Your easiest route for now may be to interrupt the pre-amp circuit and patch in there. You just may not have any volume control from the head unit. Fader and some other settings may still function fine since I believe the HU is communicating those settings to the amp over the CAN-BUS, thus the reason you only see a single left and right channel output on the 12 pin port. On the other hand, it's also possible that the HU is putting out a non-variable line level output and all volume control is happening at the AMP. In that case, you would be in business.

The way I see it is that there is NO input to the radio from the CAN BUS.
Satelite receiver is hooked up to the BUS. It could be as simple to just use the audio inputs X16 20DG/YL Right(+), X17DG/OR Left (+) and X917 20DG COMMON. Some electronic devices are programmed in the way that when they see an INPUT. That means that when you hook up an Ipod to the audio inputs, the RADIO may switch automaticly to Sirius Radio Mode. I don't think there is an option in the main unit to turn the sirius radio on, otherwise there would be an OUTPUT from the main unit to the satelite receiver but there is non.
Worth a try......
