JL SUB QUESTION!!! Please help!!

ok so this isnt really that serious of a problem i guess, but does
anyone have a W7 in their chrysler 300? im thinking about getting a 12", but im wondering if its worth the money. i have also heard that the W6V2 actually has better sound quality so i may just go with a 13" W6v2. any opinions on what Jl w7 sounds like in a 300??? and also should i go with a W7, or just save a little cash and get a W6v2? any help would be appreciated. o and also just assume that i will have an amp powerful to power either of those subs... ill get whatever amo i need to. please reply.

I have never heard the new W6 V2 13 yet... I did have a JL 8W7 in the factory location with a custom enclosure mounted under the rear deck. It was so clear and perfect sounding. The only problem is that the 8 became not enough, and I wanted more. I will say this though if you could find someone to enlarge the factory hole (like they did for my 8) but make it a 12, and re enforce the lid and dynamat the crap out of it, that would sound sick. Especially since the sub would fire into the rear window and there would be some trunk rattle but not a bunch. I went to 2 12W3s and there is plenty of bass now... They are in a simple rear fire sealed box with a 500.1 on them.

I listened to both the W7 and the W6 and decided to go with the W6. I like the W6 sound and they don't need a crazy amount of juice.

I was at the stereo shop yesterday and just for kicks I unplugged my 2 10W6 V'2s and plugged in 1 10W7. It sounded the same to me. The installer said my 10W6's were louder, but to me it was 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other.

Yes, supposedly the W6 is supposed to be a better sub for a trunk, while the W7 is better for a hatchback. SIcne you can get two W6's for the price of one W7, i got two of them. I dont even have the full 600 watts going to each (i have a 1000 watt amp) and it is louder than my W7 I had in my last car. Get it ported.

My two 10W6V2 subs are being driven by 1 JL 500/1 amp. Does the trick just fine. I asked a few people @ JL if I should get a 1000/1 amp and they told me not to bother.

Depending on what you want to do here is my sub system in my 300c. I have an Imagine Dymamics 12" with and Arc Adio amp. Both pieces are high quality. The system is made to fit in the trunks and leave almost 30" of room front to back It is tapped right into my BA system or can be used with an after market system. The box is color matched to the color of the car. The sound is awesome, the finish is perfect, and I have plenty of trunk. But best of all I have a show car finish, not just a box in the trunk.

Did you use a Hi/Lo level converter and tap onto the sub or front door speakers or before the amp? I am installing 2 Orion XTRPRO 12 subs with a Soundstream reference 1000 amp firing the subs towards the rear of the car. Also did you pull out any of the rear deck speakers to allow for better cabin response? Do you know if the factory system DSP has any time delay? I currently have the Nav with the 8 speaker system.

Thanks,
Ed
