Getting "Disc Error" message on NAV unit

I just installed a supposedly brand new (out of an '06 Durango) NAV system in my 300c that I purchased off EBAY. The sytem does look in "like new" condition but it isn't allowing me to load any CD's in the changer. I also noticed that the preset buttons sometimes dont respond after every 3rd button selection. Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the radio? I just want to make sure it isn't me before going back to the seller.

Thanks.

Send it back.

Just took my car in to the dealer to get this fixed. I have the 'disc error' message with no disc in the unit. The car doesn't even have 1000 miles yet. The dealer said they don't fix any radios just remove and replace. I am getting a replacement under warrenty. This and the 'broken joystick' apparently are very, very common with the REC units.

Send it back! The seller should be able to get it replaced from the dealer.

Marcs300c,

Real bummer. I had exactly the same bad experience with the unit I bought from an Ebay seller. As far as I know the "disc error" message is pretty much fatal. I was able to get him to replace it with another one, after some mild arm twisting and threatening to go to PayPal arbitration.

Get back to the seller, and don't take no for an answer.

When these radios are purchased thru a dealer or Mopar distributor, they come with a 'shipping bracket' located on the top of the radio. This bracket is removed before installation. The purpose of this bracket is to hold the 6 disc changer mechanism in place during shipping. I'm pretty sure most on line sellers, whether E-Bay or other, is shipping these radios without any bracket. Therefore, by the time you receive it, it has been thrown around by UPS several times and you end up with a trashed CD mechanism.

Good point! Mine came with the bracket (ebay), and it would not accept any disks until i removed it. You would think they would include that little piece of information with the instructions ...
