Question Any recommendations on standalone GPS System?

Hi, I was considering purchasing a standalone GPS Nav. system and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with any particular brands and models that they could share with me. Looking for feedback on things like:
1) ease of use
2) accuracy
3) features
Any problems encountered and generally impressions from using. Thanks

Mopar makes one. It will fit right on top of your dash above the clock. My wife has it in her new caliber. Looks pretty nice and has a ton of features. I think moparsupercenter sells them for like $650 or somewhere around that.

We've had the Magellan Roadmate700 system for over a year now and it gets us everywhere. Initial cost was about $1k (significantly less than the OEM versions) and it worked better side-by-side than the OEM Nav in a 300 Touring we rented last year. I just spent another $100 for the latest software and feature upgrade, and we used it daily on the driving portions of our recent three week tour of the country. Highly recommend it.

Easy to use (touch screen)
Gives Voice Directions at 2 miles, 1.1 mile, 0.5 mile and approaching turn, then a chime or ding AT the turn.
New software has synthesized voice stating street or route names
Can search by address book, intersection, or Point of Interest (spell out)
Provides speed, elevation and long./latt. info
Can be manipulated by passenger (or driver) during vehicle operation (unlike the OEM Nav)
Runs off cig. lighter power, etc.

i got the magellan roadmate 800 about a 2 weeks ago. it cost about $550 brand new on ebay and i got a 5 year warranty for an extra $60. pretty much the same features GoofyTimL mentioned but without the voice naming software. also has 3d map option and 'true-view' map option. has points of interests already in the unit but the downside is if you wanna put in you own points of interest you have to know the LAT and LONG of it which is stupid. has 4.5 GB dedicated for mp3s and pictures.
