Exclamation Viper 791xv & engine light on....????????????

I've read some members have installed this alarm with no problem. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. Once the alarm was installed everything worked perfectly (Remote start, keyless entry etc.) Once the car was turned off the engine light came on. Worst of all the car seemed very rough at idle. While trying to drive home the car shut off on me when taking off from a full stop. The alarm was then disconnected & now I'm waiting at the stealership. My questions are: Has anyone had this problem? Do you know what was the cause? What can I do to prevent this from happening again? Was there a way to remove the engine light & fix the problem without bringing it to the dealership? Thanks guys

I've had 791's in both of my LX vehicles.... no issues.
Bet on it being an install problem. Fuse 11 will clear the CEL, but if there is an issue with the install, it will just continue.

I agree entirely. I've had my 791 installed in my 300C for a few months now without issue. I can't see why the vehicle would be shutting down on you while driving though. I've installed this alarm and many others on quite a few vehicles at my previous job, and none of the symptoms you've explained occured. Most of the troubleshooting were very minor problems that could be fixed through programming. I could see the starter-kill or a bad bypass causing problems upon startup, but I just can't think of anything that would cause it to shut down while driving. Maybe check the wire where the installer tapped into the injector wiring?

Considering what goes into the install, it's not a surprise that there was a problem, but it's just an odd one. I'm interested to see what the installer/dealer come up with.

I hope you are able to solve your problem. Goodluck.

Well, I got my ride back. 5 - O2 sensors went out & I needed my egnition module changed. When the alarm was installed they used a 2006 wiring sheet, I have an 05. Is there a difference in the wiring diagram between the 05 & 06?
