Question Remote Start Question from a newbie

I have been lurking on this forum since I picked up a 300cabout a month ago. Now that I am starting to add bells and whistles, I have a question. I recently purchased a "complete" remote start set up off e-bay. Well, I was looking everything over today, getting ready to put it in and I realized that the "complete" remote start kit came without the hood tilt safety switch. So my question is if there a way to make this work without the switch. I figured if I just grounded the switch wire that would work, but I'm not an electronics expert. Now, this would just be a temporary solution until I cold get the safety switch from the original vendor (or someone else) as I would not want to override what I consider an important safety feature, but I want to get the remote startin asap as the temps here have been in the sub freezing range for a few weeks and are expected to continue this way for at least the next week. Any information would be appreciated.

Hey Kro- Not familiar with the kit you have but sounds like it should work, however as long as you are shure it needs to be grounded. Is it 1 or 2 wires leading from your unit to go to the switch? If 1 your are most likely correct about grounding, if 2 then most likely they should be shorted together. If the product has a website you can sometimes look at the pic and see how it's supposed to work. Hope this helps some

Hey Maistro, thanks for the reply.

It is one wire going to the switch and the switch has one wire and a ground wire, that is why I figured I just needed to ground the wire. The remote start is the mopar factory remote. If you need to know anything else, let me know.

With the Mopar remote start, you just need to ground it. If you really want a hood switch, let me know. I think I still might have mine kicking around in my parts bin. I heard about people having trouble with them when parking on an incline, so I purposely left mine out.

Thanks 1fastsedan. I do wan a hood switch as I have four younger kids and it is easy for me to foresee them trying to remote start the car while I am under the hood. Was thinking about using some type of mechanical switch (plunger type) that would be open when the hood is up. I should have one in my garage somewhere. Also, the guy who sold me the kit replied that he was also looking for it and he thought he had sent it. If neither of those options work, I may just hit you up for your switch. If you find it let me know.

Thanks again 1fastsedan and everyone else for the welcome. Lookforward to learning more about this awesome car on this forum.
