CleanSweep or 3Sixty.1

which is better?

I want Front/Rear and Sub.

I have high/mid/low level crossovers for the front.

I have nice 4-way Sony Explode 6x9's for the rear and 1 - 10 inch Sub.

it doesn't appear that the CleanSweep allows for a Sub output, but I do have a 21 EQ that I can use if necessary.

general consensus.. which is the better deal for what I want...

It depends what system you have in your 300. You may want to check out an AudioControl LC6i or LC8. They have the inputs you will need for a BA6 or BA8. That way you can add all the inputs and sum up the sound for the outputs. It also has a sub out with optional control.
Here's a link: http://www.mobileaudiocontrol.com/de...17612&l1=17612

Good luck,
Gary

If you want The factory Head Unit.. but want to upgrade your bass, or your high end... this is what you do...

Thats exactly what you want.... an audiocontrol lc6 or lc8... get the 8... then basically you run all your speaker wire.... 2 Doors... 3 Dash... 2 Rear... 1 Sub - THats 8 speakers...

You run all 8 speaker wires out of the factory amp into the lc8... and the lc8 will give 8 RCA outputs... Now you have your outputs to completely control.. your Sub signal, will obviously be from the factory sub speaker wires...

(More Detail... (only read this section if you dont understand.. what i just said))

You would run your front/left indash speaker wire to Input 1 on the LC8
You would run your center indash speaker wire to Input 2 on the LC8
You would run your front/right indash speaker wire to Input 3 on the LC8
You would run your front/left door speaker wire to Input 4 on the LC8
You would run your front/right door speaker wire to Input 5 on the LC8
You would run your rear/left deck speaker wire to Input 6 on the LC8
You would run your front/right deck speaker wire to Input 7 on the LC8
You would run your sub speaker wire to Input 8 on the LC8

(END DETAIL SECTION)

You now Have all your RCA outputs For your factory Deck... coming out the opposite side...
Obviously Input 1 RCA Output... would be your front/left indash speaker.. but with RCA out now..
The LC8 Also gives you Gain controls, to adjust the individual output..
basically increases your voltage, just like a crossover... nice!

You can also combine all 8 speakers, use all the frequencies... and the Audiocontrol will combine them all into ONE signal, and give you just left/right output... that left right out will have sub frequency all the way to tweeter frequency... just like a normal cd player would give you...if thats easier for maybe what your doing.... Either way, you have complete control...

BUT THIS SO IMPORTANT!!!!

If youve ever noticed... the more you turn up your stereo, generally from 31 - 38 Volume... the factory amplifier starts adjusting the frequencies, and tones down your bass, so you dont blow your speakers... well... the factory amplifier will still change the frequencies on you... and since this is the source your LC8 is getting its signal from... it will inturn change the sound of your new aftermarket System.

SOLUTION...

Use your amplifiers and crossover, to tune your stereo to be loudest at volume 30... This way, you never go into the "change" zone... you keep all your sound...

You always want to tune your stereo to 75% of the deck volume... this way you stay away from distortion, and only give your amplifiers clean signal from the deck...

Or Until Peripheral comes out with there "Audio Out" which has been over a year in process... only god knows...

And Your Ready To Go! and Keeping your Clean Factory Look...

thanks for the info Laidback;

just FYI Peripheral buys the rights from pac-audio for all their devices, Pac-Audio holds the patent (I know the guys at Pac and my 300 has been their test mule for several of the products).

I ended up with the 3sixty.1 as I got a good price (below $200) from a member on LX forums...

I am having some issues with it, but I think it is related to the current firmware, I am waiting on a response from Fosgate for an update.

it has the same connections as the LC8 for the most part, from looking at your post... my biggest problem seems to be a high pitches engine whine on the rear speakers.. I have 2 yellow top Optima's and a 3 Farad cap that I am going to install to correct this...

Marc--

ah yes... welcome to the world of AFTERMARKET ENGINE NOISE.... get one of these.. it will signaficantly reduce that noise...

Ground loop Isolator

PAC SNI-1 RCA Ground Loop Noise Isolator at Crutchfield.com

ive used them in most of my aftermarket stereos...

the REAL best thing to do... is to replace your front to back power wire.. with monster cables power cable... its got something in it that doesnt allow the engine wine to travel through the wire... thats where the noise is coming from..

but this $15 fix will also help... most local stereo shops carry them as well..

actually I was just talking to Fosgate about firmware upgrade on the 3sixty.1 mentioned this, I have fosgate RCA cables and they have a ground wire on them, the rep told me to ground them (right now they are open) and that should fix the problem, he said to use the same ground the 3sixty is using and ground the other side to the amp itself... (chasis or frame of the amp)

thanks for the info though....

Personally I would have went with JL... Ive lost all faith in Fosgate over the last few years. Im not trying to bash them, I used to run nothing but RF even metered 147.9.... but ever since the product has been available at chain stores the quality has gone down hill
