Rattle in the back

So, I'm new to the forum and a new 300c owner and have sort of a noob question.

I have a 300c with the nav and boston acoustics sound. It sounds awesome but i have one problem. Something is rattling like crazy in the back when the bass is deep. Somewhere under that panel behind the seats that covers the speakers, something is rattling. I dont think it is the speakers themselves but something under the panel or the panel itself.

So my question is, what do you guys recommend? Should i take off that panel and try to isolate the sound? or should i just take it off, put some foam or something on it, and hope it goes away?

sorry for possibly sounding stupid, but i'm not a "car" guy per se, and i'm not savvy on how to fix these types of problems. Thanks in advance!

There are MANY posts about this very subject. Use the search button and type in "rattle" or "rear rattle" and read pages and pages of information about this subject.

Good luck.

so i figured out what it was.

i took off the cardboard-ish lining in the trunk that covers the bottom of the speakers and what do i see? not 1, not 2, but..... wait, shouldn't there be 3 speakers (2 speakers, 1 subby)? all i see are 2 speakers. and where the sub should have been , there is a plastic plate covering the whole that is buzzing around anytime the bass was rolling, hence causing my rattle.

so essentially i just got this car from a used car dealer and the sub has been stripped from it. what do you guys think? is it worth raising a rukus over the sub, or just deal with it?
i mean if its really worth having the sub i could buy it, if its cheap.

sIf the cover was black and slightly flexible, then the car never had
a sub.

There are 2 upgrade boston acoustics systems that I'm aware of.

SG I and SG II. SG I has an amp and 6 speakers with no sub.
SG II has 8 speakers (ie the 6 from SG I plus a center speaker
and sub).

The fact that you have enough bass to rattle things give a clue
that your car may actually have SG I, because the rear speakers
would have the bass filtered from them if there was a sub.

It was just as you described.

But i have the center speaker. At least i think i do. i see the speaker in the center of the dash. do i need to lift up the cover to see if there is actually a speaker there?

wouldn't hurt to check, but there are 2 flavors of the BA system,
SG I and SG II.

You have enough bass from your rear speakers to cause a rattle, so
it sounds like you have SG I.

so i lifted the speaker cover from the center speaker, and it was very much empty. so i guess that means i have the group 1. i guess that makes me feel a little bit better, considering now i know someone didn't jack speakers.
