Question Nav Choice

I'm shopping around for a nav for my 06 300c. I've narrowed it down to a Pioneer D3 or an original Chrysler 6DiscCD/Nav that came out of a new 300.
The guy at the local automotive electronics store has the Pioneer in stock brand new for $995. I believe thats what they go for anyway, so nothing special there. I mentioned my concern about interfacing with the factory electronics and losing some of the functions of the bells and whistles that I bought the car for in the first place. He said there is nothing to worry about and that he uses wiring harnesses that will give me all my functions. $150. for the adaptor(harness or whatever it is) and $55. for the piece to connect my factory steering wheel controls, then $100-$150 for the labor. Is this reasonable?
He said if I want to keep it simple that he also has a factory nav that they took out of a new 300 that they just modded out with moniters and tv's. Its new he said with the latest disc. He kept the unit and credited the customer. If I want that its $900 bucks basic plug in.
Help me out. You folks all know best about this stuff.

I would check out the options our site sponsor may have for you. I’ve read nothing but good things on what Dom does for members. Worth a shot at least.

newbee, great idea to consult the forum before you make a decision. danno has lead you in a good direction. i have a factory nav and can't imagine not having the functionality of my steering wheel controls. i've got a feeling our great members are going to find you a better deal than you are getting now. the prices may be similar...but the benefits will be much more.

you know what.. if you ask me i rarely use my steering wheel controls..
dunno why but i always reach for the stereo...go figure??....
i would say by the d3...but the down side to that is someone
might try to rip it outa you car...so now that i think further into it
i would say go with the stock...you could always add some sort of
interface that will allow you to add pretty much anything you want..

all depends on the relationship you have with the dealer and service advisers.

The claim that aftermarket parts cause this to happen or that to happen is because you have Techs that are too lazy to figure out why and find it easier to blame your aftermarket stuff.

Federal Law dictates that the tech/dealership/DCX MUST PROVE that your device caused such and such a failure before voiding the warranty.

example, they can say your radio is causing a your windows to not work, but if you put the stock radio back in and still have the problem well then they failed to PROVE the radio was the culprit.

Yep.. I do that with my setup..

I made a quick diconnect harness for my 3sixty so I can plug right back into the stock amp, speakers sound like crap, but dealer can't say $hit...

Though mine has been pretty cool about it anyway..

My opinion... I have the AVICN3 in my suburban and the factory nav in the 300. I agree that I'm not going to change the factory nav in the 300 but if I had the stock stereo I'd definetly be puting the D3 in it's place. The Pioneer has way more options for SAT, IPod, Changer, TV Tuner.... etc. All in all it's a kick ass unit. As far as the stering wheel controls go there are a couple of companies that make units that connect them. One that I know of is soundgate. Chrysler - SoundGate.com
Basic question..... Go with the Pioneer, you'll get way more for not much more cost.
