Bonus feature with Kicker amp....

Purchased the kicker speaker upgrade and amp from mopar. Installed today..thank god. Now I have some "oomph" (stock system sounded like am radio). Good, reasonably priced upgrade.

The bonus is (they don't advertise this) that the amp gives you the ability to have surround sound, which is really great sound. Just turn the volume up two notches, and back down within three seconds, and you havesurround.

Though you'd like to know..

That only works if you purchase the new kicker amp system just realeased or have a 07' with the kicker group, so don't go trying this unless you fit one of those two criteria.

Great to know that it installs easy for ya.

good point. Had the dealer do the install for $77 (one hour). Plug and play!

Now, I don't know if they fixed this on the new ones. But, I ask you to try one thing.......

Take the four phillips screws out of your kicker sub speaker front, and pull the speaker out. Then switch the two wire leads to the opposite of what they are currently on. Then reassemble. This will either increase the subs output by 3-4 times because it is not set to the correct phasing from the factory or it will make the sound output drop because they have fixed the wrong wiring in the new ones. It sounds ok with the wrong leads hooked up but it sound incredible with the wires hooked up right. Worth a shot to make sure your gettting the full potential out of the kicker.

I will try it...!

Your sub is probably in proper phase, I assume you just bought it with the other speakers and amp. Either way it takes 5 minutes to check the phase of the sub, but if you have plenty of low base now, then it is probably ok. If not, you want to check the phase. Enjoy the new set-up I am sure you are loving how clean it sounds.

I'm considering just purchasing the amp by itself but can't find any information on that on this site. Has anyone done that? I thought I heard it improves the base even on the stock sub but can't confirm this. I plan on purchasing the upgraded sub later but things are a little tight right now. I guess I'm just asking if the new amp is worth the $200 by itself for a while (I also have the VES so just the surround sounds nice).
