Thumbs down IPOD integration issues

I hooked up the mopar ipod integration about 2 weeks ago to my nav unit... it worked for the 1st week, and ever since, when I connect my ipod, my nav unit displays "Starting ipod communication" and does nothing else! My ipod does show that Chrysler screen, but nothing happens... Secondly, I lose all my Sirius presets every time i toggle modes! its a little more than annoying... any idea how to fix this?

Loosing the presets is known - it's a "side effect" of using the iPod adapter.

As for the "Starting Communication", I remember one forum member that solved this by updating the firmware on his iPod. Others have reported the issue, so I'm not sure if there is an exact fix. I haven't seen it myself - yet...

Mine did the exact same thing. I'm a gadget/apple freak, so I completely understand the ins and outs of my iPod. I have a 60gig 5G ipod with video with the latest firmware installed -- all I saw for the short time I had the Mopar kit was "Starting iPod Communication". I tried everything -- I turned off disk use (hard drive use), disabled videos, photos, games, everything but the music -- and it rarely kicked in and played music.

I think my wife was ready to commit me after dealing with that mopar kit. The service dept.'s have no idea about anything with regard to it, and I got tired of trying to explain the various issues. I had them take it back out and give me my money back. Spec.dock by 2point5 is my next purchase. I won't have on screen info, but I'll be able to skip tracks from the steering wheel. That's all I really care about. When it comes time to navigate my playlists, nothing comes close to the actual iPod interface anyway, so I'll gladly select my music from there.

SORRY!!! Happens every time!!!

Curious if anyone else is still dealing with this. I've had mine for 6 months or so and randomly have this problem. The "trick" (usually) is to unplug, exit the ipod to the main menu, go to now playing, press play and then plug back in (the song should be playing, not paused). Sometimes this doesnt work and rather than going to now playing, I hit Shuffle Songs and plug in and for some reason that seems to do the trick. This only happens when first starting up, and even then its random (i'd say 20% of the time I have to play with it a bit to get it going). Once your going, it never loses the connection. Has to be something about the unit not knowing the current state of the ipod and sending the wrong message. FWIW, mine is an 80gig, half full.

I have the REC sateliitle radio/NAV on my 2007. It came with the factory Mopar iPod adapter installed. I immediately dicovered the same problems ... losing the SAT presets, and also getting stuck with the system waiting for the iPod. I called Chrylser yesterday. They said they are working on a fix. It should be resolved within 2 months. I know the dealer was aware of this when they sold me the car last week. I have requested the dealer to make up for this. We are currently negotiating.

Dropped a few albums off the ipod to get it back down below 30 gb again and it started working.

This issue has been frustrating me as well. I was originally blaming the iPod as it seemed whenever I rebooted it or when I picked particular playlists it would communicate correctly. But after reading other people's comments it seems to be a fault with the iPod adapter when dealing with larger capacity iPods.

Something that is working for me is keep the number of tracks loaded on the iPod below 4000 or so (the more tracks on the iPod the greater chance of it not connecting correctly). This kind of defeats the purpose in being able to keep my complete music library on the iPod but not being able to use the iPod in my car is something I can't live without.

Hopefully they'll come up with a fix soon (and before my warranty expires).

Thumbs up Satellite radio issue update from Chrysler

Just spoke with Chrysler Customer Service today (their uconnect people). Harman Becker (the particluar manufacturer who made the radio's with these problems) sent a software fix to Chrysler for testing. Unofficially, the testing has been perfect. The dealerships should have the software udpates in a couple weeks.
