Custom LCD Bezels

Hey guys..I have been looking into carputers lately since they really intrigue me. I have found tons of great systems designed specifically for vehicles, but there is one area of the computer that has yet to be address: monitor mounting...

I have done some fiberglass work for my current car, especially extensive bezel modification. I am thinking about making some custom bezels for people who want to flushmount a touchscreen for a carputer, or even just want to install a nice touchscreen headunit or monitor.

If anyone is interested, I will look into purchasing some stock bezels. Then you will send me the monitor you wish to have put in, and upon completion you will recieve it. I will probably include some sort of core charge so that if you return me your stock bezel, you'll recieve a refund.

The idea here is to make enough of these so that I have it down to a science to where it can be mass produced. In this case I would choose the monitor that I feel best works with the modification, and it would be a complete plug and play bezel with monitor.

This is just something that I am trying to start up. In respect to that, the first few guys to come forward will get considerable discounts.

Let me know what you guys are interested

Wow that was fast haha

Well like I just said, this is an idea that has just come to me. As far as pricing information, it would surely include the size of the screen and the manhours..Obviously not having done this quite yet Im not sure how long it will be. For first customers there will be a discount.

What are we talkin...well that is another good question. Coming from a carputer thread I was reading through, I saw a few of these pics (hope you dont mind me stealing these links)

I guess something that would look of this nature. However, I DO NOT HAVE A 300, so I would really like to stear clear of relocating the ac controls like I have seen some of you guys do. It looks great, but not having a vehicle here to create something like that makes it impossible for the quality to be up to my standards.

one other thing...

Also, before I do this I am going to be researching the disassembly of lcd and making sure that I will be very good at it. the last thing I want is for someone to send me a gorgeous monitor and it get broken.

For the first few, it will be a learning process for me..say R&D if you wish.

Pricing will come when I asses what will be the best materials for the job, and estimate some amount of manhours. Im sure I'll greatly underestimate the first time.

I assume your lookin at the first picture. That could definitely be done, I just have to look into the possibility of modification behind the bezel that may be necessary.

If your lookin at the second, I could do that but you'd be responsible for the relocation of the AC controls.

I'd much rather do the first tho, thats pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do.

Lookin at some pics in another thread, It looks like there may be a possibility to remove the lower pocket and drop the controls down some to allow for a larger sized monitor. That would work if and only if the ac controls have clearance when they are lowered.

All is very hard to determine without the actual car, but if some people have experience here then chime in.

Well alright. Use your stock bezel and take some measurements. We need to determine the max size screen we can fit in that area. I suggest looking towards Mp3Car.com for a screen.

Let me know where if you can get those bezels at a good price I might grab a few.

Where are you located? might be interested. I'm looking into getting 1 installed on my girl's magnum and possibly mine. I have 2 10"inch flip-downs and an extra non-nav bezel.
