Thumbs up WOW!!! should have bypassed the amp sooner

Before:

Stock REF
Stock Amp (BA6) running mains
LOC tapped at rear
MTX TA5601 ---> MTX TCE5512 ported sub

After:

Stock REF
LOC tapped at radio
AudioContol four.1
MTX TA5604 ---> mains --> changed to polk momos
MTX TA5601 ---> same sub as above

Rogue, Duderino and others recommended doing this if adding amps to
the system, but no one seemed to stress how clean and strong the
signal is from the radio. It seems as if the stock amp is somehow
throttling the signal!!!! I thought I needed the four.1 for tone
controls, but I haven't had to adjust anything!!!!

If you have added to your stock system but haven't completely
eliminated the stock amp, I HIGHLY recommend doing this.

I thought my car sounded nice before, but this is absolutely crazy.....

Night and Day difference huh?!?!?!?
I did your Before scenario on my Touring (I thought it sounded good) but now I think I might go the extra step and do the After scenario on my C.

Care to elaborate on which wires you tapped behind the radio?

Thanks for the info

yeah but if you have U-connect or Nav you can't do it.

you loose the nav voice and the u-connect if you go before the amp...

DAMN DAMN DAMN- But wait a minute what if I am only adding subs????
I don't care that my Nav voice have bass added to it- So I should still be good to go on clipping the signal before the AMP - right???

Mr. I is correct, you will lose nav voice and Uconnect, but I don't have
either. I only have the REF radio.

The loc is tapped on the same wires as in the FAQ.

From the FAQ:
Radio pin A18- Radio Left Rear +: Dark Green / DarkBlue (amp pin A7)
Radio pin A19- Radio Left Rear - : Dark Green / Orange (amp pin A19)
Radio pin A21- Radio Right Rear +: Grey / Dark Blue (amp pin A8 )
Radio pin A20- Radio Right Rear -: Grey / Orange (amp pin A19)

If you leave the stock amp connected then the volume control on
that tap won't work. the output will be fixed and very high.

I tried both ways. with the stock amp still plugged (ie the connector
closest to the engine), the radio volume does not change with
the steering wheel or radio knob. But my four.1 has a volume knob
and I used that.

Then because the wife also drives the car, I unplugged the stock
amp. This way, now the volume controls and radio knob change the
volume.

If you have a way to control the volume to your sub, you would
benefit from tapping between the radio and amp. Be sure to
use a good loc because the signal is very strong. I didn't measure
it, but my four.1 is a high voltage piece and I have the input sensitivity
set all the way down.

JL Cleansweep, RF 360.1, 360.2, AC LC8, LC6:

each one of these is meant to go after the amp and allow
integration of aftermarket equipment with the stock OEM
system. The cleansweep and RF 360s actually correct the
eq curve that is present in most OEM systems.

And short answer, if connected after the amp, you will keep the
u-connect.

I believe Mr. I, used the clean sweep in conjunction with the stock
amp, where the stock amp is driving a speaker where the
center speaker used to be for the nav voice/u connect, and his
360 is sending the signal to his audio components.

Mr. I can elaborate.

If you don't have uconnect/nav voice, then you don't need
any of the above devices.

I used the Fosgate 360.1 the clean sweep is crap IMO.

in my install the 360 is after the amp, the front door connections, rear deck and sub go to the 360, from there the RCA go back to the amp and new speaker wire comes back up to the OEM amp, then I tapped into the other side of the OEM wires (the one that were cut for the 360.1 and soldered the new speaker wire to it, this prevented me from having to phish wire thru the doors.

the front speakers go from the amp to a crossover and new wire was run for the dash speakers left and right, the OEM left channel wire was moved to the center for the Nav and U-Connect voices.
