Security and trunk compartment

Is it possible to not have the security system protect the trunk compartment? Too often I walk up to the car and open the trunk before turning the system off and set off the alarm!!

This is in my 07, my previous 05 did not function this way.

I looked in the operators manual and searched this site and did not find any information abut this.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

if you are using the key fob to open the trunk then it should disable the security for the trunk compartment once the hatch pops.

if you are reaching in your window and using the dash button, then it is working correctly as this is a "violation" of the security system.

if your key fob is popping the trunk and not disabling the alarm (until the trunk is closed again) then take a trip to the dealer, sounds like the Security System Brain has an issue..

Mr. I,

I am operating as you say....useing the key fob to open the trunk....once I open the trunk lid fully the alarm sounds.

I would most likely live with it rather than have the dealer attempt to fix!

Are you saying the if you pop the trunk with the doors locked that your horn goes off? My 06 doesn't do that. Is that a feature with the 07? I assummed the trunk wasn't protected by the keyless entry system because it was possible to pop the trunk with the remote while the doors are locked.

I concur, and the only fix is replacing the Alarm Module.....
