Cool Benefits of new AE nav disk over old AC disk

So I paid Alpine $260 for the latest nav disk (AE) to replace the old (AC) disk and so far I do not see any difference. It still tells me to thru a row of houses like a tank on crack. Fortunately I know how to get to my office so I ignore the bad advice. Does anybody have the newest disk and is whelmed by the upgrade? Easter eggs?

I got my AE disc from, well an Incredible guy on this forum for like 50 beans. As far as map data goes, it did include some new roads and subdivisions in my area. There were no easter eggs that I'm aware though, other than the ability to use the navigator while moving, which is another "Incredible" bonus

Gee I wonder who that was...

Here is the DCX release info on AE:
>
> DVD geographic database discs:
> The same DVD discs are used for the "REC" series navigation radios as
> well as the older "RB1" models. Each unit has unique firmware and
> accesses its own set of operational files from the disc but share the same map database.
>
> The 5064033AE version was released on September 15, 2006 and contains
> significant increases in the map data section and new subdivisions. The "AE"
> disc also automatically updates the firmware the first time it is loaded.
> Exact firmware changes have not been confirmed yet. This disc contains
> 7.59 GB of data.
>
> Note: Effective with version 5064033AE, discs are no longer backwards
> compatible. Once you have loaded the "AE" disc into the unit and
> updated the firmware you can no longer use prior release discs such as "AC" and "AD".

Yeah there are a few ways to get it infact you can actually download the whole thing. carhack.org has posts on what do do and were to get it.

BTW nothing against firemedic but i have never heard of something like this in my life. I dont exactly know how a laser works harder on some discs rather than others. It doesnt have human like features it either works or it doesnt. If the fan broke i wouldnt jump to conclusions and think the laser was working to hard because of a copy and that is why it broke. Even so if the fan blew out i am not a tech guy inclined in the computer type industry but i do know a fan like this can pretty much be picked up at a store like radio shack, and i havent checked but can almost gurantee once you open the rec up its prob a plug and a few screws to remove it. nothing more than a 5-10 fix and a hour of time if your taking your time. One thing to note: like mr I said they discs arent backwards compatible you cant go from ae disc to ac or a burnt ae disc back to your original ae disc, but the tech gurus can always modify the version if some sort of problem does arise. Just make sure to get quality media above anything verbatim is said to be the best for our recs. If possible have the seller test the disc in his player before sending to you. SOmetimes the disc might not work.
