Remote Start Issue, How does your's work?

So I had a friend install my remote start unit and I did some graphics on his van(he has a mobile install company). After install, I'd like to know if this is the way everyone elses works.
So here's the senerio: The car is locked and sitting there. I press the remote start button twice and it starts right up. After that my remote key for the door locks is rendered usless. I press the unlock button and nothing works. If I want to unlock the doors while under remote start I have to stick the key in the door. HOWEVER, If I shut down the remote start by holding the button down for 3 seconds.... whalla. The remote unlock works fine.
Anyone have this issue? Am I missing something.
My wife took the car to her work out session, came back and said "That G** D*** remote start thingy wouldn't let me in the car this morning."

remote start problem

I had the remote start installed at the dealer when I bought the car. I use the factory remote, and have to press the lock button twice within 3 seconds, to start the car. most of the time my remote will unlock the doors, but occasionally I have to use the key. I have an aftermarket system (valet)
I had the same system in my previous car (cadillac) and it worked perfectly.
also I wanted some sort of confirmation that the car was indeed running, flashing parking lights etc. but while at the dealer for service, I asked the install guy about that and he told me that feature can't be programmed on the srt8. it's just a minor annoyance, and I guess I have to live with it.

BradC, assuming your's is the Chrysler remote start, something is wrong. I have two of these remote starts and have never experienced a problem like yours.

Have your buddy check the plastic "brains" to the system. He had to snap two parts together. One part has maybe 40 or 50 male spades; the mating part has matching female receptacles. On my second install, I unknowingly bent several spades when I snapped the parts together. Took me quite awhile to figure it out.

Other than that, there are some electrical connections where you unhook the stock setup and sandwich a new connection between what you just unhooked. These connections have locks that insure a tight fit. Make sure those connections are locked and tight.

Minor bug : paying M.R.S.P.
