MyGIG and the 2005 - 2008 LX's.. YES IT WILL WORK

This was posted several days ago here and on Lxforums... just thought I would bring it all together in one spot.

I will be installing a MYGIG radio into my 2006 Grand Cherokee sometime next week. I will report back as to how everything works. The only unconfirmed feature to check will be UConnect and it looks like it won't be a problem...

Some more info... the MyGIG radio that I am getting for test purposes is NOT a "hacked" unit in any way, shape or form. Nothing has been modified inside or outside of the unit. There is no interface whatsoever, only a wiring harness that routes the 05-07 vehicle radio wiring to the newer style connectors. Truly "Plug and Play"... just like magic, eh?

About fitment - still trying to figure this out as far as the vehicle bezel goes. The MyGIG radio uses the same exact front face cut-out size as the new 4th generation radios do. The 05-07 models use the 3rd gen style, so some bezel firment/customization may be in order. The RER MyGIG radios and the REC radios are about the same size, the RER being shorter front to back which is great as it leaves more room behind the radio. I'll know more about fitment when I get the unit next week. Keep in "touch"!

Question: What does the new system do that our OEM's don't?
