Bluetooth and Nextel i860

Hey, What's up 300 family. I have a question about the U-connect/bluetooth system and my NEXTEL i860 phone. I recently purchased a 300c Magnesium w/ this system and I can't figure out how the pairing works! Maybe it's my phone or simply user error. If anybody know how to do this it will be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking I need to switch cellular services and get a phone that is bluetooth and not just upgrading my phone to bluetooth technology.. Thanks in advance..

300C ya!

300C ya!

I had no trouble getting my Verizon Motorola V710 to hookup with UConnect. I followed the directions in the car's owner's manual and in the phone's manual. I had to give up my old phone to gain the BlueTooth technology. I was more than willing to get rid of that old thing! Apparently the V710 is the only Verizon/Motorola phone with BlueTooth. I don't understand your comment about upgrading your phone to BlueTooth. If that is possible, then it should work as if it were originally a BlueTooth phone. Why don't you ask your friendly local Nextel outlet to help you, before they loose you to another service?

lexball is correct. The i860 doesn't support bluetooth, so I don't know how you were trying to pair the phone with UConnect. And like lexball said, the blackberry is the only bluetooth phone for Nextel. There is a new BIG ASS BRICK of a phone with bluetooth also coming out soon.

I use the 7520 (Nextel BlackBerry) with the uconnect and it works great, I think he is referring to the bluetooth adapter that plugs into the headset connector on the phone... Anyways, I am not sure or not if that would work, but check the instructions for the bluetooth adapter (I am guessing it's the jabra one) and see if there is a pin hole on it to start pairing mode on it.

The new nextel coming out is a "brick" style phone, but it's not big really, it's about the same size as a i88, but has a big color screen on it... It's called the i605.

I tried pairing a bluetooth adapter with uconnect and it didn't work, so thinking of getting a blueberry or waiting for the i605.

the bluetooth adapters don't work because they only have a "headset" profile setup. You need a "hands free" setup for car kits in them as well, which they don't seem to have.

Taha is right. The bluetooth adapters are for the headset protocol and will not work with uconnect. I tried using my adapter that I use for my wireless earpiece and it did not work unfortunately. You will love the uconnect when you get a bluetooth phone tho.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'll either wait until Nextel come out w/a bluetooth phone, besides the blackberry..or get somehting like verizon or cingular w/limited monthly plan for only the car use...I cant wait to use that feature...Thanks again
