Subwoofer venting? would this work?

I was wondering if this would be a good idea?

Alot of sound comes out of the vent on a ported box. What if you extended the vent to your cabin area. Wether the box being 2 x subs or a single sub.
I know this diagram wont work in stereo because both sides are combined at the 8" exit,. Plus going from 2" to 8" the sound of "air" would be less. but i think the tone would remain.

Forgot to detail the 8" penetration is sealed, not floating undernieth the factory hole.

It may be a dumb idea but im just brainstorming in to a place i dont have much experience in.

Could this take away some trunk rattle due to less pressure in the trunk space?

not a dumb idea, but you have to make sure to know what the tuning
frequency of the port is if you want it to sound good.

I'm not an expert is sub box design, but as long as you take care of
that it would work.

Also, why not just have one combined port from the middle of
the box? it may be easier.

you don't have to have subs in stereo.

Almost forgot, it will NOT help with trunk rattle. your subs are facing
the rear still.

How do you tune to a frequency, is it the depth of the port cilinder in the box? or is it total devoleped length?

If the subs were facing the cabin would it help out in the trunk rattle?

I have no idea exactly, but it's based on the length and width of the port.
Also you have account for box size. There are some programs you can
get that will do the calculations for you.

Yes if you fired the subs toward the front you'd have less rattle, but you
have to seal the front of the baffle from the trunk.

Here you go..
>>the12volt.com<<
You can findout what size ports you will need Also Box size..
You can lift the ports so they fire thru the rear deck but still have some of it inside the box.. for a daily driver I would use a port tuning around 32-38Hz
I tend to shoot for 35Hz
I was going to do that with my 300c project but plans got over ruled..
I think it would be awsome..
Have fun & keep us posted..
