The Iphone does work as a Ipod and does work in the car with the Mopar Ipod integration kit that I have installed.

BUTTTTTTTTT

It says on the phone when you plug it it to the adatper "This device was not made to work with this adapter, do you want to turn on airplaine mode to avoid radio interferece?"

Or something like that... I hit yes, and the ipod immediately started playing at the sone I last listened to on my iPod part of the Iphone.

I think, however, that the phone part will be disabled. I never planned to use it as an ipod so I never really checked before.

After the iPhone asks you if you want it to go to airplane mode, you can choose no and the iPod works just the same, but you can still receive your calls.

You can change the Sim - its a big hack right now - the sim does come out of the phone via a little paperclip hole on top.
