Why would you ever waste the money on Dynamat? The only stuff I have ever used is B-Quiet sound deadening. I did a lot of research before doing a demo vehicle, and this stuff is just as good as Dynamat, but isn't a marketing rip-off, like Dynamat. Dynamat is good, but not worth the $$$.

Think of Dynamat, as 'Monster Cable'. In other words, the products are overpriced, and really not in any 'real world' way better than the competitor's products.

I try to refrain from pushing any brand, but only the techniques of
deadening and where to put it. I started out with dynamat, but
found that it could become expensive.

I saved a ton of money by using edead instead.

I would say that dynamat does have good uses, but it's expensive.
For these LX cars, you'll need a lot, so for that reason I would recommend
using something else cheaper.

You have Bquiet, edead, raamat. You can save even more by
going to a home hardware place and getting ice guard, but you'll
likely have to buy a huge amount.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with dynamat, except that
it doesn't appear to be cost effective for this car.

Gut the entire trunk and spend time matting every little space. The rear deck lid is also a must.

Do a search for rattles and you'll see how big of an issue it is. There are
a few threads on here that discuss everything that needs to be done
to get it quiet.

I still have a small rattle, but a the volume level it happens other things
in the surrounding area are also rattling. I don't advocate driving down
the street with music that loud and in fact I only played the music
that loud in my own garage to get an idea of how well I did with the
deadening. I can vibrate the windows in my house and make things
fall off of the wall in the garage. And at that level there is a small
vibration just above my license plate coming from the trunk lid.

So for everyday driving and listening, there is no trunk rattle. At
deafening levels, there is a small amount. Since I don't drive around
with the radio on max, I don't have a problem anymore. It took
a lot of time and effort to get to this point, but it was worth it.

Maybe this will help. I had a rattle from the back deck in my 05 C. I have the BA 6 speaker system and initially thought I had blown a speaker. When I opened up the trunk access to the speakers, I found that there was a plastic "dish" sitting loose where I assume a sub would be placed. This piece of plastic was just sitting loose with no screws, tape, fasteners of any type. I removed this by getting in under the deck cover from the back seat. Not hard to do, but my rattle is gone for good!

Hope this helps.

Skt,

the rattle that they are talking about will become very evident once
you've added a sub or two to the trunk, especially if the subs
face the rear.

So most of us have already removed the plate and the rear
speaker trim under the rear deck, plus the addition of sound
deadening materials. You'll find quickly that there are a lot
of areas to cover to try and resolve this.

So, when I mention having a rattle, it is at the very rear behind
the license plate and it only happens when I'm playing mind numbing
levels, the area surrounding the car is pulsing, and my wife is yelling
at me from the house.

I know what is causing it, but a true solution would require me to
remove the rear fascia to treat it. Since it doesn't happen at
normal listening, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

I agree with you and it's a good tip to remember to remove the
subwoofer trim plate if it hasn't been done already. A lot of us
use this area to allow the bass to flow into the main cabin.
