Antenna Wire???

Ok, yesterday when I took out the rear sub, I decided to unplug the defroster on the rear window (tints) so that I could still use it on the side mirror without worrying that it will melt my tints... well, I saw plugs on both sides of the glass and I said to myself "hmmm weird, I didn't know cars had plugs on both sides for the defroster" well I unplugged both sides and yeah, you guessed right, one of them is the Antenna wire so now I have no AM/FM stations... any of you know which side is the Antenna on? Pass... or Driver? I would hate to take off both pannels again. Thanks for any help.

According to the service manual, the antenna module (a kind of RF pre-amp) is located in the right C-pillar. So I'd imagine you need to reconnect things on the right (passenger) side.

Never happened to me either. Just be careful (may be too late now!) if you are using any kind of knife to trim the film against the glass on the inside that you don't cut through any of the defroster elements.

We tinted windows for 15 years and never had tint melt. That would be some hot wires!

Wow... I guess I should have asked first... I've done about 6 sets of tints at 4 different locations, every single one has told me that under NO circumstances to turn on the defroster because it will buble up the tint.. twice they disconnected it themselves.

Desiree, no, nothing was cut... I just unplugged it... hmmm well, I live in Miami so I have less of a reason to use defroster than Wes does up in Daytona... but like he says, it gets in the 50's once in a while I actually use it on high humidity days and the window gets all foggy and humid. The defrosters gets the glass crystal clear very quickly...

Honestly, not that I am doubting any of you, this is the very first time in the 10 years I've been driving that I hear the defroster will not damage the tints... was it possible that maybe 10 years ago film was not as good? or defroster was hotter? why would I be told that at every place i've been to?
