Anyone got JL's?

Hi guys,

i havn't got my 300c yet, but i'm planning on adding a bit of base to it. I want to put in a couple of 12w7's with a JL 500/1 on each one. just wonding if anyone out there has a similar setup, used them before or has any useful information?

i'm looking for good quality and i'm not totally convinced that a 500/1 on a 12w7 will give me what i need, i dont' want eardrum blowing bass, but i want something good.

I'm going w/ 3 MB Quart Premium 10's. I also want quality w/o trunk rattling bass. I have an Expedition w/ 10-12's for that.

I have a box with 2 JL 12W3v2 and a JL 500/5 powering everything. I think I have posted pics awhile back. But it has been PLENTY of bass. Once it gets warm here I will start working on the rattles.

I'm running some Kicker amps, JL 12 subs and MB Quart MusiComp mids and Tweeters in my Expedition. I tried moving the 12"x2 JL Sub box to my 300c while being powered from the expeditions system. It's some pretty intense bass. Shakes the entire car inside and out. You'll find endless places that need dynomat or some elastomeric vibration dampening. I'm holding off for now as the system will add almost 200 pounds to the 300c's rear end.

You will need more than 500watts each to get full use of those subs. The rms on them is 800. Its always better to run a bigger amp than smaller. So the amp doesnt have to work as hard.

hmm thanks for the info Jamesw, i suspected that would be the case, the 1000/1 JL amp is just so expensive and 2 of them would really hurt me

like jamesw said, more is better. you could get away with a 500/1 on a 10w7. if you're wanting to run a 12" with that setup you should look at the JL 12w6v2. i'm running a zapco 500/1 to each of my 10w6v2's.

Honestly I'd run just one 12w7 and a 1000/1. You will be surprised how loud that combo is. Plus the weight of two w7's could be a little much especially if you ever have a full car load.

If your wanting to purchase some/a w7 be prepared to shell out a nice amount of money for one.
