Unhappy lousy AM reception

I have absolutely lousy AM reception with an almost stock system. Any ideas?

If your windows are tinted that would do it. The antenna is in the back window and most of the better tints are metalized films which would block the AM reception.
If your windows aren't tinted... I have no idea.

By almost stock.....what did you add? If it's a class D amp then
that's likely the problem, that is if you didn't do tint.

It just has some aftermarket speakers, but uses the factory "amp-shaped device". I think the tinted windows is the answer. It has them. Wonder if there is a stick-on inductive antenna I could put on the rear window to boost the signal?

Yeap, it's the tint. I have the same issue with FM signal aswell. Dealed told me that I should have used the ceramic coated tint as opposed to the metallic. But the ceramic is 3x the price. I would be interested to know if we can interface another antenna to it. A Sirius/FM combo antenna would be excellent!!

I'm laughing at this post. I'm sorry. You should of just said FM even if you're listening to AM. The only way I could see anyone listening to AM is if they're missing the Bears game. Only Bears other teams don't count I'm sorry.

I'm going to get one of these:
Universal Window-mount Antenna AM/FM replacement antenna at Crutchfield.com

And use this to hook it to the factory head unit:
Antenna Adapter Works with a variety of 2002-up Chrysler, GM, Ford, and Mitsubishi vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Since I don't have a center dash speaker I'll just run the wire up thru that grill cover and mount the antenna either down low or up high. Probably down low since all that rain-sensing jazz is up top. In fact, if it works, I may just attach it TO the grill cover and let it sit right there.

About 40 bucks all in to keep me hooked up to my daily dose of vast rightwing conspiracy AM talk radio!

Thanks for the update. I guess I might have to renew my SIRIUS subscription. I just don't feel like running all kinds of wires for radio. It would be great if we could simply interface to the antenna plug at the rear window connector. Hummm! I might have to take a look!
