Anyone w/remote start, plz help!

I had the dealer install the remote start yesterday. Tonight I noticed that if you start the car remotely, you have to turn the headlights on manually. If you start with the key, the auto lights work. Is this normal? I plan on using the remote start often, as the weather in this part of the country usually calls for either heat or A/C. That would pretty much render the auto lights useless. Any input would be appreciated.

See the message I left in the identical thread you started in the General Discussion Forum.

When you have the remote start installed do you get another FOB or does it work with the one that comes with the car?

The Chrysler remote start comes with two FOBs. Each is about 3/8" x 1" x 1 3/4". These FOBs have only one function (one button to push) and that is for, you guessed it, starting the car.

Question Remote Starting Systems With SRT8

I'm a little confused about the use of remote staring systems. I don't know if this applys to all 300 series cars or just the SRT8.

Page 13 of the SRT8 Manual states in part that..."The Sentry Key Immobilizer System is not compatable with remote starting systems".

It goes on to say that it could cause starting problems and a loss of security protection.

Can anyone elaborate on this, in view of the fact that Mopar offers this as an accessory?

The manual for my 300C has the same disclaimer (on the same page!). I ASSume it refers to aftermarket offerings. The Chrylser system is designed specifically for the LX series. The installation instruction manual (for the Chrylser remote system) specifically says it "is compatible with the LX manufactured after 5/17/04".

I would be wary of aftermarket systems....they don't mesh with the electronics....this website is sprinkled with posts relating problems that seem to be related to them.....its to bad because some of the aftermarkets have neat features.
