When will Navus Navigation be available?

All I can find is the joint Garmin/Chrysler press conference dating back to January. Does anyone have any knowledge on this unit?

It works with your CAN bus electronics, sits on top of the dashboard, and is expected to be sold in May for a MSRP of over $800. I bought the Nav radio on e-bay for about the same cash. I don't want this box sitting on top of my dash!!!!

BTW, anybody get their Chrysler magazine in the mail? I bet some of your 300 club meets could make the future editions.

I think the Navus mounting is the least obtrusive of the after market devices...but, I know exactly what you mean....I would much rather have the factory unit. Maybe I should think this through more, especially if I can get the factory unit for about the same price as the Navus unit. The cheap side of me would have a problem taking out the 6 CD Sound Group II radio and just having it gather dust on a shelf....I guess I need to just look at the dollar outlay...if it is near the same, maybe I should go for the factory unit.

Man, I wish I had ordered the Nav option when I ordered my car. Hindsight, hindsight, hindsight. When I ordered mine, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted (all major options except sunroof and nav)....I was wrong on the nav.

You can sell your radio back on e-bay. Mr.CD1 on e-bay will credit you some cash if you give him your radio. His Nav cost a bit more but comes with everything you need except the bezel. He's trustworthy and guarantees his products. If you take the radio credit, you'll pay about the same as everyone else is paying for a complete system.

I just wanted to voice my experience with Mr.CD1 on e-bay. I received 2 different NAV units from him with broken joysticks. He either isn't packaging them correctly when shipping, or reselling broken units. I know for a fact all he does is purchase used units on ebay, and resell them for a premium with a so called "warranty".

His response when I informed him that the first unit was broken was "I suggest you take it to the dealer, they will replace it." He then gave me the runaround about filing a UPS claim for damage on a box with absolutely no damage whatsoever. A week and a half later I played hardball and sent the unit back asking for a refund, or a replacement unit. I even called to represent myself in person and he insisted I should "Stop with the threats." What threats? He sold me broken merchandise and claims to offer no hassle 30 day warranty. I simply wanted him to make good on his auction description. My job requires me working with vendors and service providers on a daily basis, when a deal is made I expect someone to hold their end of the deal. When they don't I call them on it.

The second unit I received worked for all of 10 minutes before the knob stopped working. I got sick and tired of dealing with him, so I had a dealer replace it. It's unethical and I felt bad, but I had to do what I had to do.

I never left feedback in fear of retaliation. His feedback is impeccable.Check his previous auctions and you will see what I mean. All he does is buy used units, and resell them with a "Warranty".

Buyer beware. I'm sure he's a good guy, but my experience was a nightmare.

Thanks for the heads up. Lord, I don't know what to do (besides kicking myself for not ordering nav originally). Maybe, I will get the Navus....the pictures don't look toooooo bad.

Two questions:
1) Why does the dealer have to replace it? It seems like they would know it was added later. Even when you sell the whole car, procedures have to be followed to maintain the warranty (and I believe that stops working after the second transfer).
2) I don't understand the fear of retaliation. Is it because he has your address or something else?

First, our new Navus system will launch the week of April 25th. You need to see it on a vehicle and take a test drive with it to grasp what it does. It is positioned perfectly for the driver. If you use navigation on a daily basis, you willenjoy the sightlines. MSRP $869 (20-30 minutes to install)

Now for my RANT!!!

There is nothing like admitting to fraud and doing it on a public forum. It is cases like this that drives up warranty cost and the cost of new vehicles.

As for Mr. CD1, the only way he can be selling the materials that he has on eBay at his prices is simple . . . they are being obtained outside DCX's proper supply channel . . . think about it!

DVD map data updates, owners manuals and antennas for $88? The cost of the Navteq licensing for the disc is $100! Now I know where all the missing stock from the plant is going.

Rob, I think I asked you this before but is it being launched in Canada at the same time? If not could you give us a heads up? I am interested in this unit.

The Navus will be available in Canada, Mexico and Europe as well.

The unit should launch in Canada in mid May.

I'm interested in self installation. Does it come with detailed instructions similar to, for example, the remote start installation booklet?
