Anybody got a 2008 with mygig and uconnect and ipod integrated

Anyone one out there got a 2008 with the MyGig and the ipod integrated into the uconnect module. Have you tried it? How does it work. Steering wheel controls, display on My Gig screen, etc. How does it compare to the integration kit for the REC system.

I think iPod integration on 2008 models is a myth.
I asked numerous times before buying my 2008 and there was barely a reply even though there were articles stating the contrary.
I think they feel the audio input on the mygig is their "ipod integration".
Too bad they can't make use of the usb connection but alas, it doesn't work for controls.

It's on the jeep web site

If you go to the Jeep web site (the factory design and build site) it speciffically lists the ipod integration in the uconnect module and that the ipod can be controlled though the my gig radio. Check out this link.

2008 Jeep Commander - Interior - Conveniences - SUV, Sports Utility

and select the uconnect with ipod interface.

Which is probably what the 300s were supposed to have but something must have fell through. I'm guessing Mopar didn't like to lose that revenue stream.
That is the same radio, why else wouldn't they offer the same thing?

Well if you look closely it said ipod "interface" not integrated, there is a difference. But they do say use radio buttons. They do have an ipod interface but it is definately not integrated.

I have one of the My Gig units in my 2008 T&C.

The "iPod integration feature" is and AUX audio jack in the face plate of the radio just below the USB port. Basically, you can "integrate" with anything that has a stereo headjack.

I was disappointed when I brought my 08 home and found out the iphone/ipod integration was a bunch of bs. Good thing there is a hard drive so I dont need to plug in my iphone every time i get in the car. uconnect works like a dream, my only complaint is there should be a uconnect button with all the rest of the steering controls.

ipod inegration information

First, google for "ipod uci uconnect". There are a few hits which indicate a very real ipod integration mode (track data, control, etc.). The claim is that there is a connector in the glovebox, although there's a reference to the "optional MOPAR connection cable".

However, it might not be MyGIG compatible (hard to tell from those hits).

FWIW, there's a teeny tiny note in the 2008 300 brochure, stating that the ipod/UCI function is "Not available with Navigation".

HTH.

I agree! Or if the button was on the other side of the unit so it was easily reached.

I have the older REC unit with the button on the mirror. No idea why they thought this was an engenius place to put it either. People look at me strange when I keep touching my rear-view mirror and talking to myself...
