Thumbs up Finally installed my subs

I have had my car for close to a year now and got tired of having a complete system sitting in the garage in boxes. I have the kicker option, but it is not enough bass for my tastes so it is unplugged in the stock location for now. I tappped the speaker + and - as recommended in the kicker PDF bought the 300c box off ebay which I am very happy with. I installed the amp and capacitor in the styrofoam cubby in the bottom. That might need to change if it doesn't stay stable.

Having all of the connectors in the trunk made this a breeze install. I didn't have to pull off a single inside panel and the sound is pretty good for 2 - 10" subs. I gotta reduce the dreaded rattle though. :-)

Hope everyone likes it.

looking good!!!

my battles with the dreaded rattled are well documented on this
message board.

while I have a whole trunk full of deadening material, if I had
to do it all over again, I would start here first:

from underneath the car, just behind the license plate, place dense
closed cell foam between the bumper and rear fascia. Do this in
as many places as you can along the width of the bumper.

then removed the vent flaps on either side of the trunk.

If you have questions about closed cell foam, etc, you can
substitute the following:

ensolite (I think it's often used in conjunction with raamat)

elemental designs edead v4 (I'm using this over my sound deading
and in the problem bumper aread)

weather strip (self adhesive kind from any hardware store. I'm using
this around the trunk lid to augment the seal that is already there.

I was worried if I screwed directly into the styrofoam it would just beark loose so I tool a piece of white MDF cut to 18.5" x 14" and screwed into it. Fits nice and snug and easy to remove.

Did you use a signal converter from the subs output?

Actually this looks pretty clean! I almost went this route and now you have me rethinking it. You definitely have a lot of trunk space remaining. This is the sub box that is uncarpeted on the back side correct? I think the ebay vendor was selling this for somewhere in the neighborhood of $125?

Looks good SilverBullet. Very clean install. I definately took the easy way out, but I don't do sound offs anymore so I decided to go simple.
