MyGIG (RER) iPod interface?

I've seen referances to an iPod interface via UConnect in the glove box, or soemthing like that...

Is this something that is available for the MyGIG unit in my '08? I think its the RER, it has Navi, 20gig HD, and Sat radio.

Any input is appreciated!

Good luck on getting an answer. All of the factory Mopar sites state that iPod integrated with the MyGig and Uconnect is on the 2008 cars. It states in the literature that the ipod can be put in the glove box and controlled with the radio. It plainly says that on the Dodge and Chrysler and Jeep sites. I have been asking the same question. Nobody has seen this system yet. Until someone that uses this forum actually buys a 2008 and tries it out we will keep waiting on an answer. If I had the time to burn I would go by the local dealer and see if he has one in stock and try it first hand. But I can never find a fully loaded one on the floor.

I have an '08, and I don't see how I can control my iPod with the system.

I used my iPod as a hard drive and imported a bunch of songs on to the MyGIG system, but for some reason it made duplicate copies of about 60% of the songs, and I'd just rather have it connect directly to my iPod. The accessory input works fine, but I don't want wires hanging from my radio every time I want to listen to music.

I guess I just need to figure out how to use the MyGIG a little better.

I figured out my problem on the MyGIG with duplicate tracks (turns out it was something my PC was doing, not the car( ) Transfer is slow, I'm in the process of adding about 10 gig's of music to the hard drive, and its going on 3 hours, hopefully will be done soon...

I'm right there with you. I have been saying the same thing over and over again.
I specifically held off buying an 07 300c because everything I read (and right here on this forum) said iPod integration was included on the 08 models.
Heck, you can even go to Apple's site and they have Chrysler right there listed as a partner.
When I went to look at the '08s, I saw nothing about iPod integration, only "MP3" players with the front AUX input (which is a nice substitute if you can't have it any other way).
The dealer had no clue, just shook his head yes.
I have read the MyGig manual backwards and forwards and iPod integration isn't mentioned once.
The Chrysler website doesn't even list it as an option anymore, I could have sworn it did when they featured the 07s.
The cynic in me thinks something fell through before the 08s were finalized. Either between Apple and Chrysler or Mopar and Chrysler.
Mopar didn't want to lose that revenue stream to a standard option.
I'm not sure if we will ever know.
Like you, I'm waiting for the first MyGig with ipod integration standard user to chime in. Maybe someone who gets an 08 Jeep?
The real crime is that everything could be done in the software. All you should have to do is hook up the iPod to the USB on the front and the software should have play controls take over.
Why do that when Mopar can get the customer to pay $200 for their cable???

Last night I read through the manual for the RER (it actually comes with a seperate book!) and it says in plain English "This unit can not control external MP3 players"

I'll scan the page tonight and post it up.

Wow, that MyGig unit is a piece of crap, then. First they designed it to not be compatible with the CAN bus on the 05-07s for no apparent reason, "oh yeah, a high speed requirement!" uh huh.. because people complain about lag on their EVIC, right.. and now no way to control external MP3 players?

ARGH!

I really like it so far actually, I think its better than whatever they put in the '06 Comanders and also the unti from the '06 Minivans. There really isn't a need for iPod control, the MyGIG has 20 gigs, so just uplaod your iPod to the car and your set, plus the interface is really nice with the touchscreen.

First, I don't think there is 20gigs for music, more like 8-11.
Second, when your iPod is about 80% AAC files, that isn't an option.

What works for me is the Griffin TuneFlex Aux, it has a goose neck cable with a docking cradle that can be moved around, it also connects to the AUX input via Line-In (not headphone audio which makes a difference). It also charges the pod.

It works great with my 5.5G and Touch.

The 'available' space is about 17 gigs.

I guess the iPod control isn't as important to me because even if the radio did have it, it wouldn't work with my iPhone, so I still have to use the "Aux Input" with a TTY adapter, which sounds fine through the factory system.

At least now I transfered the majority of my music from my original iPod, and now my girlfriend can use it.
